Well speaking as one of that 'non specified gender' I am thoroughly happy with the TiVo, have had no issues coming to grips with it and while hubby hasn't had a chance to play with it properly yet, I keep astounding him showing him new things that it can do.

My only real 'wish' is that they develop the same technology that V+ had in order to drop the padding between two programmes. As it stands I cannot record 2 programmes at 9pm and also at 10pm without one of them clashing. I can of course look for a later recording or use a +1 channel, but then lost the HD option. It's not a huge issue, but it is on my wishlist. I've heard mention that it is going to be looked at, but is this for sure, or is it just on others' wishlists as well?

And when originally setting up all the series links we had it was really frustrating to have to go in and put the same settings in individually for every single one. It would be nice to have a 'global' setting and then if we wanted something different to then change that individually.

Oh, and it would also be nice to have the background 'record to DVD' like the V+ had. Yes, with a 1TB drive we don't 'need' it, but we do like to keep some things, and it would just be nice to be able to do so.

I don't see these as deal breakers or even real issues, just things that would make things easier.

Ref the 'reminder' I didn't use it on a regular basis, but sometimes it was nice if I spotted something I wanted to watch in a few minutes to just set a reminder so the TV would switch itself over if I got caught up with something else. So I can see why people want it even if most don't use it. I don't miss it for the most part, but on occasion it would be nice.

Overall I'm thrilled with the package and service. And one of my original boxes was faulty and I got a 'next day' app't to replace it and has been fine ever since.

Just my thoughts. I've actually been away for a week and just got back and am thrilled to see that all my programmes have recorded with no issues - unlike at times with the V+ where there have been reboots or hiccups and have lost all or part of some programmes in the past.

Well done Virgin and TiVo - keep up the good work and here's hoping a few of the 'issues' raised will be looked into in order to make a great product even better :)

What i would like to see is say on the apps website that you are able to download the apps that you want to the box. Not search from the box as that would be a pain in the ass.
So not in the way of a smart-phone as i have not got any apps in the way shape or form on both my smart-phones.

It would be a better idea than having all of them on the box and then having to search the ones that you use?

Well mine was installed this morning, I would like to know how u can watch something from catch up tv that was on channel 4 in the middle of the week. Three I'm a bed seems I can't search for shows without trawling through pages of listings. Also they need to make sure every page u can search with the letter keys on the remote and not by that stupid pre historic selecting a letter on screen.

Playback directly from the backward EPG seems to down again. It seems to be an on going problem. Incredible when it was promoted as one of the big "must have" features.

I wil give the box 24 hours or I will be ringing CS and having something amended on my bill as not being sold a premium product only to have to go on the internet to watch it.

Cant eveen see three in a bed listed and the search facility is none existant for catch up... so far not impressed at all.

Can someone tell me how I can delete a whole folder of recordings in one click or do I have to delete every single show within that folder separatly.

You use 'search and browse' to find any programmes including 'on demand'. As your EPG builds its history day by day you will also be able to use that to search backwards.

I suspect 'Three in a bed' is one of the shows only available from the online 4OD.

I thought the whole point of this though is that there would be lots of content etc.

IT isnt obvious either how to use it... you say press clear but no where on screen does it show you that option or what to press so unless I asked I wouldnt know.

I do have to say it is dissapointing so far... to say I have paid £149 and then you have £3 a month for a few extra features such as extra tuner and wishlists etc the rest is kind of shoddy.

Right. First impressions.

Series link is so messy. You have to manually set the padding for each series link. Also, I have to set it to record new and reruns because the guide data doesn't work on just 'new' for about 99.99% of all shows. So now I have to delete a load of re-runs. So much for progress, eh? This is my biggest concern. This needs to be fixed. Get that guide data sorted (or return to the old V+ way of doing it) and bring back bulk padding. Also, why can I do the series link options as an overlay on search, but on the guide I have to go into the old SDUI? I'd rather it be an overlay on everything. It's almost as if it's unfinished.

I had completely forgotten about the automatic rewind/fast-forward skip back/forward and assumed it was a glitch or something. I thought it would be a good thing for me but I actually started to think it was bad. Anyway, I solve it by pressing the pause button twice instead of pressing the play button.

Right onto the good points! It's nice and fast. It doesn't take 2 seconds to pause anymore. I press pause, and it instantly pauses. I press play, and it instantly plays. The fast forward is really smooth, something I wouldn't expect on HD digital recordings. The rewind isn't as smooth, but it's still pretty smooth.

The fact I have 1TB on my hands hasn't hit me. It's like, even though I didn't have to worry about my box storage, as it rarely went over half full, I know don't ever have to worry about filling up my box with HD recordings. The box is bigger than I thought it would when I saw the pictures. It's the same width as the V+, I thought it would be smaller. But I don't mind about that, I have plenty of space.

Installation took around 4 hours. Yes, you read that right, 4 hours. There was a huge kerfuffle over moving the V+ into the other room which I won't bother going into, and the engineer trying to setup the remote by not turning the remote away from the box as instructed on screen, thereby turning the box off numerous times.

In the end though, it's all okay now. Apart from the series links, padding and skip-back quirks I don't like. But yeah, it's all fine.

There isn't a product on the market that suits everybody Richard. I would send it back and get your money back. That's what i will do if I don't like it.
