Apologies if this has been posted, but I can't find it.. You need Powerpoint to view it, and make sure you check it with a virus scanner first.

Re: World Cup 2006 Thread
I don't think Poll will be doing much more refereeing this World Cup. Imagine Simunic scoring the winner...

In the abscence of strikers I think sven's going to have to go radical in the next match, how about 4-6-0? :)

I was watching it (I kind of support Croatia after England) and i thought... oh no not 9 men... and then realised Poll hadn't actually sent him off despite showing him the 2nd yellow. Simunic was walkin off and Kovac stopped him and he went back on  Before arguing with Poll who had probably realised (after play has resumed, the ref has finalised his decisions) in the last minute after a disallowed goal (for Aus) and getting his 3rd yellow card (and red). Would have been funny if he'd scored the winner. Anyway, 7 Aussie squad members have Croatian ancestry and 3 Croats (Simunic, Seric and Didulica - reserve keeper) were born in Aus. Sweet... To be fair, I think the match should be void because a player was not sent off and should have been. (Not because it gives Croatia a 2nd chance lol) ---------- Post added at 00:56 ---------- Previous post was at 00:55 ---------- Oh and I forgot. Leicester REJECT Kalac's "goalkeeping"   |
Re: World Cup 2006 Thread
heard about this but not seen any video of Poll doing both bookings but saw the one after the final whistle.. are we sure he booked the bloke the first time.. usually when you get booked a second time you walk off before you even get the red card shown
just checked the FIFA match report http://fifaworldcup.yahoo.com/06/en/...te.html?id=44+ click on the PDF and it shows the bloke was only booked once before and then sent off after the match |

Edit: Just saw your edit. I didn't see the first half, so I can't be sure. However, I wouldn't put it past FIFA to not include an earlier booking in the match report in order to save face. |

Re: World Cup 2006 Thread
Has anyone noticed that in every game, there is a close-up of the match ball?
Also, why is Barthez not wearing, in the Togo - France match, his customary black top for? |

Re: World Cup 2006 Thread
There's some controversy over Switzerland's second goal. A Switzerland player passes it to another player, who is deemed offside by the linesman (the flag is up). A Korean player however, has touched the ball before it reaches the player in offside position. That player scores, and the referee awards the goal. This is all in the final third, so there is not a lot of space.
Should it stand or not? I would think that when the ball is passed to a player in offside position and the flag goes up, play should stop at that point, and the Korea player touching the ball is irrelevant. The decision is about the moment the ball leaves the passer's foot. Not what happens after that. |

Anyway, Frei was onside when the original ball was played. Good decision by the ref. Quote:
As the expression goes, play to the whistle. |
Re: World Cup 2006 Thread
but preferably the ref's whistle and not the fan's like in one of the other games
---------- Post added at 16:46 ---------- Previous post was at 16:03 ---------- mark bright says "he(podolski) just chests it down in the box. he shouldn't get that much space" there's a reason why he had that much space - he was offside you moron |
