When will Virgin rename Channel 5 as 5?

Maybe they think everyone uses the logos and doesn't check EPG Names / Service Names. ;)

Freeview listings on their Web site has reveal:

Sheffield Live has been took over by That's Media - soon to be known as That's TV South Yorkshire.

Indeed, which should come as a relief to Sheffielders as they used to get this which, for some reason, is still running.
Rebranding as That's TV South Yorkshire is a stretch. The signal from their Grenoside & Crosspool transmitters barely covers Sheffield.

They are such rebels at Virgin TV, this week they rebranded Sky Family as Sky Harry Potter a day early and completely ignored Sky Hits rebranding as Sky The Hobbit.
Wait! I'm making this worse aren't I? :D

how many local channels are actually left! cant be many! it was such a cheap idea in theory. should have just let amateurs upload tv shows on dodgy cameras like youtube. i'd have watched some of the shambolic viewer submission videos for laughs.

instead they tried to be a professional tv channel and compete with channels with actual money...fools

Local TV in the UK was always going to be difficult, as production costs are expensive compared to having an online outlet where you don’t have to “fill” unused airtime. Community radio is thriving both online & broadcast, so I suppose those in power thought what was good for radio would work with TV & bring in income from the used spectrum. In reality it was never viable, resulting in the usual “hoover up” of franchises by a dwindling number of operators.

I really did like the first idea for Local TV in 2010 - Channel 6 (Run like ITV was from 1955 to 1990s [Local broadcast make UK wide shows but have they own lineup])

I mean Cable Forum (A Tech show) would be shown in London at 6.30pm but shown in Leeds at 5pm.

It was always going to be difficult without a sustaining service between news bulletins. Production costs for local tv can't have been high, a student presenter, a camera and a report filmed outdoors was a preferred option. It's cheap. Even some of the "studio" based stuff was cheap. A room, a desk, a green screen and an automatic camera again presented by a student. Cheap as chips and it looked it.

Last month VM replaced the Mini 360 boxes with Stream boxes for multiroom with new customers. The next stage (which has not hit the press yet) has now been soft released. Take a look at VMs website & you will find all mention of the V360 boxes has been removed from the new customer offers.

So it has...it's clear on the checkout options it's a stream box.
