It is very bizarre that VM are having a 'Winter Sale' for new customers, paid for by charging their existing customers even more every month.

I need to ring 150 this week anyway as my 18 month contract finishes in around 3 weeks and VM are proposing to change my monthly payment from £93 to £111, what's that around 17%?

Good on you. If you let them take the piss, they won't hesitate to.

I just dumped VM TV and my wife moved to Sky Mobile, so Im paying about 18% less as of next month.

That's a good saving, have you gone back to Sky?

I have just called 150 but have been listening to music for around 15 minutes so given up for now.
I did get an automated message that states I can have a £8.50 pm discount for 6 months but I would rather talk to retentions as I have discounts finishing on 24th feb and I don't want them taking away with one hand and giving me back less with the other.

Do these rises affect everyone? I've not had any notice of my contract going up and can't see anything on my last bill to suggest it's changing.

Hello again board members :)
Again I have been listening to music on 150 for over 20 mins, so I will try again tomorrow.

Whilst listening to the music I get a message saying I can have £8.50 discount for 6 months by pressing button 1.
What concerns me is in Promotional Offers I have 2 discounts finishing 24th February, Discount, and Sky Sports Discount, probably both worth around £22.

If I take advantage of the £8.50 discount will VM still remove my promotional offers come 24th Feb?
This is why I want to speak to a CSA.

The offer on the IVR is for your existing deal not any new one, so yes any other promotional offers would end as per your existing contract.

I'd also expect that any new contract agreed would not include the £8.50 offer if you did go for it, so that is then superseded by the new deal.

Got my price rise today. £3.45. Not too bad as I am on a good deal. 100Mb for £22.00 so I'll roll with it and see what happens in September when I renew.

It's still worth calling - you might be offered the 6 month discount straight away.

Loads of decent deals out there if you've had Openreach fibering up poles near you.

The call system is frustrating (by design I assume). Call, select thinking of leaving, hold for 10 mins and get through to someone who half tries to find a better deal from a limited pool available to them but when they can't then you get put through to another team. Where you have to hold again for even longer to once again suffer them trying to get you a 'deal' for your 'loyalty'.

Just let people do it online!

Yes the poles have been fibred up. now point me to a provider that can supply 100mb for less than £25.00.

Vodafone 100mb currently £22 via openreach or £19 if prepared to drop to 73mb.

So you've gone from loads to just one. Do try harder.

I've been trying the usual yearly argument to no avail - Their online chat cuts you off (or they never reply) and their phone lines are dodgy. So when you finally get through, you either get cut straight off, or get through to someone who doesn't really know what you're after.

I explained at length to someone the other day, that I would absolutely not pay more than the new customer prices, when the new offerings are significantly better than what I currently have at less price!

Was then told; "Do you not think it is fair for new customers to be treated to a new customer price when they join, like you did?"
When I responded that Virgin didn't exist in 1994, there was stunned silence and a request to go onto online chat "as we cannot help with these packages"!

The automated offer of a random discount infuriates me, quite honestly.
It just makes you feel that you're being ripped off even more.

Madness...
