I believe he's on about the boxes you could buy from certain websites that, once you 'modified' them, you received ALL the channels that VM output (all you needed was the basic tv subscription). These boxes were sent to the graveyard when VM changed their encryption.

I would like to clarify this post.

I am not speculating on this deal, or the price or how it will be given to you. On the face of it, it will be given to you in exactly the same way that ESPN was. When I say that you may have to pay more is because VM have had to pay slightly more for this product and as such have had to charge customers slightly more.

I don't think this will be the case because the deal was set up specifically to get around an increase in prices so therefore it would result in no price increase. VM now have more people paying for an XL subscription because the dream boxes have gone so they have more money, this is a huge factor that has helped keep the price down.

Eh, VM have been increasing revenue by launching TiVo and increasing their prices each year. The stuff you are on about was quite a while ago now and didn't bring in much additional revenue.

I still maintains that no deal has been done yet but will be in time for the football season

I'd be very surprised if VM get BT sports free on the XL pack, and along with Sky Atlantic too! If it's true, then happy days, but i'll only believe it when and if it appears on the EPG.

You are not getting it free you are getting it as part of the XL subscription.

Yes it was but it still increased VM revenue substantially, loads of people were using dream boxes.

If all that has been rumoured on here in the last few days becomes true then exciting times for VM :)

And I'm like it with poor grammar, and people who put large chunks of text with no or little punctuation and either all in small letters or capitals. Drives me mad.

Be pleased if we get BT but not so happy with Atlantic. Still, it might shut some people up if we get Atlantic.

Come on Den even you can't tell me you believe all that , VM have some excellent packages however adding all that in XL and the price staying virtually the same doesn't stack up for me personally. I'll believe it when its posted on here as official or from a known credible source.

To my mind, BomberAF comes across very credibly. The information he's passing on, however? I agree it sounds almost too good to be true. I look forward to seeing how it pans out. Cableforum might just have a little scoop on their hands!

There are lots of channels that get added that I will never ever watch, but I'm happy for the people that do watch them.

I don't get your attitude on this, unless you think that VM should only pay for channels that you like?

I was talking from a personal viewpoint. Same as I wouldn't be too worked up if someone was to post here saying they wouldn't want the BT sports lot to come. Each to their own, I PERSONALLY wouldn't watch anything on Atlantic so it would seem a waste to me. Ditto it would seem a waste to others who don't like sport but Virgin got the BT Sports channels.

Thanks BomberAF for the news.

i am not going to get into 'believe' or 'not believe' argument or have a go at you. I appreciate you taking the time to share the info and have no reason to dispute what you say.

Like most VM customers i hope this happens but shall wait until we get the official announcement before i pop the champagne however.

This would be really exciting news though. After the recent new channel launches and more HD content to get SA (even if just SD at first) and BT Sports for the same price as we have been paying, or even a minimal increase of £1 or £2 per month, would be a big boost for VM and would surely shut up even the most vocal critics of VM out there. (Well ok probably not 'cos there always be something for people to moan about i suppose)

For me packages come down to value for money and what is proposed offers that imo and credit to VM if this happens.

There would not really that much left that Sky have that VM dont. Not that much to make people want to jump ship anyway.

If Universal HD comes (which has been rumoured for some time) that would be great. from a personal view.

We may even get Sky Sport News HD at some point. Only leaves Sky Sports 3 & 4 HD left and that is ultimately down to Sky if they wish to keep them for themselves- oh and MGM maybe.

VM bashers may need to find a new pastime

Trust me when I say if his information is correct and Sky Atlantic plus BT Sport are to be added to XL without a massive increase you may see me back as a cable customer sooner than you thought that said generally when something sounds to good to be true it...........:)
