ITV have their 2 biggest advertising programmes in the Autumn and Winter with X Factor and I'm a Celeb.
I really can't see them ditching millions of potential viewers to those programmes

Viacom are to reintroduce the Paramount Channel to the UK as a FTA channel (it won't be replacing Spike as it did in America).

It will show films and drama as opposed to the comedy that it's predecessor did.

Let's hope VM pick it up.

I know but 5USA seems to have a tightly focussed audience which wouldn't fit well with Paramount Channel's content. Also, I believe that 5USA is the best performing of Channel 5's spin-off channels, so why rock the boat?

My money's on My5. It's always come across a bit as a place-holder to me. Heck, they couldn't even be bothered to give it a name and just used the name of their on-demand service instead!

Well Dirty Des closed 5Star +1 to launch Channel 5 +24.

Viacom then changed this to My5, but reintroduced 5Star +1, so I can't see them doing that (unless My5 has been a ratings disaster).

It seems the price increases are for the initial take of the contract for new customers.

The current VIP package is currently priced at £120 anyway.

"Meanwhile, the highest end VIP bundle, which includes 97 channels, will jump from the current starting rate of £85 to £90 for the first 12 month, and then increase to £120 afterwards."

We feel that Virgin Media UK may start to broadcast TV3 Channels when any ITV shows in on them if ITV stop Virgin Media from broadcasting them.

Just confirmed via live chat just now. Price increase notification will be from august, to come into effect from 1st November. The expected price increases will be between £3.49-3.99 for everyone. Also you will also be allowed to leave penalty free.

2. Do they relate to (a) TV channels; (b) streaming/on demand services?

3. Are they (a) part of existing subscription packages, (b) additional subscription services or (c) pay per view?

The point I was making, Den, was that it was pretty pointless to tell us that DNPs had been issued if that was all the information. A few little clues help us to contemplate something coming that's really good or dismiss as more of a tweak likely to have little or no impact.

We now know that there will be one or more new channels, we can deduce that there will be streaming services in the mix and that some of the changes could be significant.

That's more than we knew before and MB hasn't given away any confidences.

So do you still think mine was not a worthwhile post? ;)

Out of this lot, I would say the last two were most likely, although my guess is that UHD will arrive initially as an on demand channel.

I think that recording in UHD would use a ridiculous amount of space on my hard drive, so on demand/streaming is definitely preferred in this house!

We can now reveal that one of the DNP that Virgin Media UK are set to start to test it sometime this month for full launch before 2018.

Yes it's via an app , if you take a Prime Subscription you get all the content marked with Prime , you also get other perks like free next day delivery plus much more.

I presume that's to accommodate UHD recordings. Whether VM follow suit will depend on whether VM will offer UHD content for access through

- On demand/streaming only or

- Live TV channels that can be 'recorded' by way of the cloud.

VM will be discussing a new Sky Sports deal nothing to do with Atlantic. VM want to start selling thee Sky Sports channels on a single channel basis.

We all know that ITV and VM are in discussions my guess is ITV Encore is the channel coming soon.

I think we will get it eventually, but whether it's sooner rather than later, time will tell.

If it's not on the cards in the short term, I only hope that the new LG/VM content strategy will spur them into bringing their subscribers something that will compensate.

back home to where i belong, virgin media, just ordered the vip package, should be installed on the 12th of august. (5 years away from vm) had to move house as the flats where getting pulled down, new place didn't have the area cabled but now it does.
