Colin and Nstokes, I fear you will both be more upset than most in the next few days. Still you will get to watch a bunch of "lesser watched" sports on SS3/4 in HD:D

are you on drugs? fast forward and rewind..different speeds...what else would you want

lol..nothing like a virgin making a "must want" on something they have that no one else wants lol

wishlist?..never miss on sky.

Yes, and Virgin better? is that why I see all the crying about not having Sky channels

Boohoo, mummy doesn't love me.. :D

I've read the forum for a while now but never felt the need to post until today, I have a genuine question for all the sky lovers such as nstokes etc, if you are so happy with your satellite service why do you find the need to spend such a lot of time on a cable forum?!

Genuine question, you are happy with your service so enjoy, but surely it's a terrible waste of precious time to be scouring and contributing to discussions about services you can't receive and obviously have no desire to obtain.

I've always wondered it too. They claim its due to wanting to know the information for "their friends". I don't see it myself. I haven't got dressed all weekend and I lie about pointlessly but even I don't see the point in coming onto a cable forum if I had sky. but there we go

I bet if anything is announced it would be Tuesday or Wednesday. Monday always seems to be quiet on virgin media for news. I don't think they like Mondays...

There is never any excuse for staff to ignore customer emails without warning, regardless of whether they feel that you are sending too many.

If you wish to take this up and/or your original query, I have the contact details of the CEO on file. Let me know if you want them and I'll dig them out :)

What your thoughts on the announcement that is rummured to be tomorow?

BIB. They are just individual films though. You could record Tyrannosaur because you like Peter Mullan, but you may miss out on the delights of Session 9 if you have not heard of it (for example). Both of which will be recorded via wishlist. Also I have had Peter Cushing pop up in many TV shows (most recently Tales of the Unexpected) and countless radio shows. Gotta love the wishlists. If never miss does that, I will happily eat humble pie:)

I am very happy with my Sky service. Reason i come on this forum is i used to have VM and i have family on VM so i like to keep uo the lastest info. I also like the people on the forum and do not believe it is a waste of my time. One day when it benifits me i will come back over to VM

No, you are allowed to post. I got the impression (happy to be wrong) that he just does not understand why you not watching your precious shows on Sky Atlantic, instead of baiting people on here? Anyway I am out of here for a bit, toodles.

Yes we use the Wish List facility in our household a lot as we like plenty of the older actors and actresses who have since long gone the way of the dodo.

Sky atlantic is an option we have...not a show that we watch 24/7

I am a bit surprised if anyone watches one channel 24/7, maybe that is how it is done on a virgin system?

Colin25 my question was simply a genuine attempt to understand why such a large group of people seem to wish to spend such an inordinate amount of time discussing a product they purport to find inferior to their own service choice. It makes little or no sense to me, for example as an O2 user I don't feel the need to spend all day on a Vodafone forum. However I'm sure you would agree nowhere in my post have I suggested what you or any other user of this forum should or shouldn't do, I have simply sought to understand the logic.

I have no idea when any announcement will be made, but Monday or Tuesday sounds feasible if things have gone to plan. The next scheduled addition of channels (including placeholder slates) will be in the very early hours of Wednesday morning, so it would make sense to announce any new channels just before this.

If any talks have deemed it to be so, BT Sports may not start straight away on VM, but will start in time for the first major game on the 17 August 2013.

Apologies if this has been mentioned already, but something new to Virgin Media today at least. A new off air screen, check BBC Three before 7pm. It looks like it's designed for HD though as the text is a bit small for standard definition (which is what it's going out in).

All that's being asked of you is to provide a source for your information, or, if you cannot, to explain why that is not possible. None of what you have posted about ESPN is backed up by the companies involved as far as I can see - in fact, most of it appears to have been contradicted by official statements and advertising. It may well be that I've got that wrong, if so I'd be grateful if you were to point me in the right direction.

I've heard an announcement is scheduled for early next week and it will be good news.

The person who told me works in BT but knows a few people higher up and although he doesn't know for certain. He thinks its going to be included in the sports package. That could mean they put the sports package up a few quid to cover the costs etc.

Really really hope it's true :erm:

Well i hope if true they don't force this on you, i prefer not to have the BT sports package and stay on the price i pay now. There is nothing of interest for me on the BT channel.

However i must admit that i don't believe a word of it as i never listen to those friend of a friend type posts :D:)

Both of which will be recorded via wishlist. Also I have had Peter Cushing pop up in many TV shows (most recently Tales of the Unexpected) and countless radio shows. Gotta love the wishlists. If never miss does that, I will happily eat humble pie:)

Sadly there is one Sky user who posts on here who can't accept that any part of the VM service is better than Sky. An immature attitude. It is just as misguided and untrue as any VM user posting that all aspects of VM are better than Sky. Fortunately the other regular Sky users offer a fair and balanced view.

I dont mind saying some parts of VM are better than Sky. For example VM BB is better than Sky BB or Sky Fibre, also VM offer better value for money on some products and the no extra cost of HD channels is great value for money so i also have a balanced view. I have never said that Sky are better than VM overall just some products

Well, anyone who thinks that Sky's Never Miss is as good as Tivo's Whishlist feature is clearly biased in my view.

It's like me saying that VM have a better channel selection than Sky, which is completely untrue.

Interesting observation Phil, I wonder if this is in preparation for the impending arrival of BBC Three HD?

msn messenger would be a good shout. or a little device which you could type into, select a phone number, and message the person with required unfunny inside joke. you could call it a mobile phone, and the typing could be called text messages. shame nobody has ever thought of this before. it would be an idea worth billions!

This thread has special dispensation to wander off topic within reason, but I do sympathise with your point.

I doubt it means anything to do with the BDSM scene :-D

Still can't see any BT Sport announcement til Thursday. Doubt BT will let them for one, and also should it be included in any collection as is looking likely quite a few people will be signing up and they won't want all the new customers to take advantage of the half price offer ending wednesday.

"In short"! Brilliant. :D

So, in short, it's insider information and for reasons of confidentiality you're unable to say anything more. That's all I needed to know, thank you very much.

Now, whilst accepting that you will not be able to divulge any sources, can you explain why the information you are apparently privvy to is the exact opposite to the explanations given by the company themselves?

For example, the following is Virgin's official line on ESPN:

"BT now owns the ESPN and ESPN HD channels, so you’ll only be able to watch this content on Virgin Media until 31 July 2013. We’re currently talking to BT about showing these channels after this date."

This information is taken directly from the Virgin website.

Whereas you've said:

Quote:

The takeover by Liberty doesn't change this legally binding agreement, as long as ESPN still exists as an entity. BT can't close down ESPN because of the requirements of various unexpired sports rights.

If I've read your posts correctly, you're saying that Virgin and ESPN have an agreement that isn't changed by the fact that the ESPN business is now owned by BT and Virgin has been taken over by Liberty. But Virgin themselves are saying that since BT now own the ESPN channels they won't be able to show them unless they come to a new, separate agreement with BT.

My question to you, quite simply, is this: Is the information on the Virgin website, bearing in mind the importance of it being correct, wrong?

Won't ESPN and ESPN hd take the existing streams, and Bt Sport 1 and 2 take the America and Classic streams? Is that how it works? Won't the only testing required be for Sport 1 and 2 hd? Leaving 2 unknown channels - my guess is Sky News hd and SSN hd.

I'd like to congratulate Mr Coulter on getting his job as content negotiator for VM and/or BT, seeing as its now gone from 'having insider information from a source' to being 'bound by commercial confidentiality', which are two completely different things. "In a direct attack on Sky and Virgin Media, Mr Petter said that BT Sport, the telecom giant’s £1bn bet on small-screen rights, would revolutionise Britain’s television markets, as well as sports viewing."

Whoops, meant to post this in the ESPN/SKY Sports/BT Sports thread.

Full of words which we have heard before from other rivals who have tried to break up the big incumbents of the sector and who have failed dismally.

I'm inclined to agree with Den. The suggestion that they have more top picks left than Sky and so will continue to grow is actually slightly desperate. Effectively, Bt don't really have any top picks. However, the very fact that he's felt the need to mention it merely proves what a lot of people are saying - Bt's first chunk of fixtures are uninspiring. Apparently, Bt know it.

Been entertaining on here today. Maybe judgement day tomorrow :) Will Den break the news early, what will he be having for his tea, or will one of the favourites deliver? I'll give you 2/1 MB, 5/2 the new kid on the block that Bomber bloke. Will Colin and Stokesy be all over the thread ripping it big style or will Stokesy be too busy exploring his new found homoerotic side? Will Mark be raging if its Atlantic or raging about everything in general? Will someone agree with Arthur, lol no that won't happen ;) Just another day in the life of the soap opera that is Cable Forum. Sweet dreams :)

A truly magnificent post sir

I must congratulate each and every one of you on this thread for cheering me up, morning after morning.

I sit at my desk at 0630. tea and toast in hand, catching up on the soap opera that is "Atlantic VS BT Sports" - and the fact that not one single person here knows whenever we will get the channel or not has not in the lightest prevented pages upon pages of speculation.

I'm hoping we don't get them, as I will miss the banter !

Well actually the coffee is nice and strong this morning and the ‘Great matriarch’ has just emailed me about the torrential rain last night and thus so far there is nothing of note in the Virgin Media news release's.
