Utd are interested in Ozil so this may still be painful for Arsenal.

Moyes on SkySports, he wont be disappointed if Utd don't sign anyone. puts faith in players. i reckon thats him not letting the players heads drop. still a danger for me chasing Ozil.

Theres talk of Ozil to Milan being a possibilty also.

I am totally gutted by the result today, we didn't perform, but there again why put brand new players straight into a tough derby game.

We were outplayed today and disappointing, and what l dont understand why play Townsend instead of a two man strike force with Defoe up with Soldado.

Never mind - l accept defeat. i still HATE Arsenal.

close sources to Arsenal say the club have put everything on the table for RM and Ozil. its up to the player now. he was benched for RMs game earlier, didnt feature as well as a sub. 3 youngsters came on instead. Morata didnt feature as well. I'd take him off them as well.

We need a central midfielder, then maybe one or two others to freshen things up but theres no real concern for me about that so long as we get a decent midfielder in.

Being a Spurs fan, l fully understand about Bale going. To me its a great deal of money for any player.

I do know that Real Madrid did not want to upset Ronaldo, as he is the most expensive going. But l just hope that Bale doesn't end up like all the other great players that have left Tottenham end up on the scrapheap - ie Berbatov and Modric who have not played well since leaving.

Good luck to Gareth, but l think he has made the wrong move.

the deal from Arsenal for Ozil has been on the table for a few days now if those close to the club are to be believed.

funny how the press jump on it straight after Bale is announced and also know PSG have been rejected. if the offers came in today Ozil would let it drag out until tomorrow then start rejecting for his own personal gain. just speculating btw.

I've just realised what people meant in the stands when they said we're getting another German.

Still can't believe we would sign Ozil, it's so outside our normal range. He would be our best player right away wouldn't he? That said United really must go in for him. He would improve them so much and they really do need a player like that as well as a big signing for Moyes.

Re: Football Season 2013/14 & Summer Window

Liverpool make more signings then and Chelsea top it off by loaning them Victor Moses, if people weren't paying attention before then they better start now.

Liverpool now have the power to launch a title bid and at the very least will be contending for top 4 without issue. You now have 6 clubs competing for 4 spots.
Manchester United, Manchester City, Arsenal, Chelsea, Spurs and Liverpool.

I don't think Spurs will get it but in my opinion Arsenal are in for their biggest challenge yet.

All eyes should be on Daniel Sturridge and they should have been when he was at Chelsea, he was always going to be a great striker and I questioned Chelsea's determination to play a non scoring Torres ahead of a goalscoring Sturridge. Nevertheless Liverpool got a bargain and He'll be better than Suarez and i'd compare him to the young Wayne Rooney.

You're conditioned as an Arsenal fan not to expect known signings, let alone massive ones like Ozil. That would be a HUGE signing for any team. We got excited over Arteta.

I swap your team for mine then you know what it like to be worried all the time

Yeah but these things are relative. Good point though. I think you'll be ok once the team beds in. Far worse teams in the league. Hull and Palace will go down IMO and one more...

What Damien said bar a few things.

Sunderland in my mind as a Newcastle fan had an impressive summer haul and I agree and did mention this way earlier in the thread that Sunderland would get off to a rough start before the team came together as a whole. However I have to reflect on my earlier view as Di Canio which I truly believe is a bad move for Sunderland, your fans may appreciate the guy and enjoy his managerial style but it has no place in football, Di Canio is an idiot and always will be, He has no idea how to run a Premier League football club and his attitude towards his players is ridiculous (Yes a Newcastle fan defending Sunderland players)

Tell your players off behind the scenes, fair enough but to lose your rag with them and then publicly bash them like he did on the BBC the other day is just way off.

Not to sound like I'm overhyping a player but Demba Ba will make more of an Impact than Mezut Ozil. Ba will score goals and lots of them, He's more clinical than Podolski, Walcott and Giroud put together.

Damien 02-09-2013 13:20

Re: Football Season 2013/14 & Summer Window

Ozil and Cazola supplying Walcott, Giroud and/or Ba would be tasty

thenry 02-09-2013 13:22

Re: Football Season 2013/14 & Summer Window

Al-Jazeera are confirming Ba to Arsenal on loan.

I'm not too happy about the loan unless theres a knock down fee agreed already for a full transfer.

adzii_nufc 02-09-2013 13:27

Re: Football Season 2013/14 & Summer Window

The only problem you have with Ba is his ridiculous agents demanding hilarious fee's

Nah we never missed out, we didn't even bid, anything JFK says is utter bollocks I'm afraid. Come the end of the window we'll get the usual summer statement of we pushed hard but couldn't get them over the line. Might as well just send a tape of last years explanation.

Infact forget it, I wouldn't be shocked if at this stage we'd approached Michael Owen.

wow Owen. you'd be better off counting on Taylor playing upfront.

I reckon Arsenal will go back in for Cabaye today. we're still short on numbers in midfield. Arsenal have though told agents they are not longer in the market for an AM which is fine tbh, we only needed 1 able to play across the field.

what do you make of this...

We thought £20m was the realistic figure but it was already known Mike Ashley may go as high as £25m.

However with this being deadline day you could expect in Mike Ashley world for him to demand £30m

I thought the same a few weeks ago but with it being deadline day Yohan Cabaye will leave Newcastle United for no less than £25 million and a spanking similar to the one Ashley gave Kenny Dalglish.

my opinion is both will not happen. Chelsea rejected a 30m bid from Tottenham and Atletico Madrid have seemingly been pushed back. And its being reported that RM have opted to keep Di Maria.

No but there is plenty of evidence Flamini is a good player. Plus Wlshere, Ramsey, Arteta...maybe get a young cover player. Cabaye is pricey for a backup...
