Re: General Sky TV Discussion
BT Sports 1 HD and BT Sports 2 HD are supposedly testing on SKY at the moment.
BT Sports 1 HD is supposedly on 11.585 - H - 27500 - 2/3 (Channel name 50660) BT Sports 2 HD is supposedly on 11.527 - V - 27500 - 2/3 (Channel name 50360) I tuned both into my SKY box. When you try to view you get the following message: "Call the broadcaster to upgrade your subscription to receive this HD channel". The EPG for both channels state: "BT Sport is coming soon". |
Re: General Sky TV Discussion
Thanks for that info Chad. At least we defo know that BT Sports HD is coming to Sky

Yeah I like the new look, much better than the overly bright blue it was before. In line with the new EPG Look.

I have to agree , just updated mine and the look is far better than before.

I'll add to the praise for the new look app, much better than before. Bringing the clash resolution to iPhone is also very welcome. :)

Re: General Sky TV Discussion
I fully expect Sky to be at the fore front of any changes coming in the next 12 months. Whilst other providers will follow closely "coming soon" ;-)

Re: General Sky TV Discussion
Could Disney , Universal and Syfy soon be added to Sky's catch up service , the link below 1. Catch up TV now even better shows images of Universal , Disney and Syfy.

I don't know if you can see it in the above picture however Syfy, Universal and Disney all have "coming soon" written below their icons. That to me suggests these are 100% on the way. SKY offer more catch up content than any other UK TV provider. SKY have done this over an 8 month period. It's exciting times if you enjoy catch up TV and have SKY. What amazes me is SKY still really aren't heavily pushing or promoting the service. That's what makes me wonder what the next 12 months will bring. If this what SKY deliver on the quiet, I can't wait to see what happens when they give it a big push. I think SKY will have most popular TV channels covered by this time next year. |

"Satellite customers who take BT broadband will get BT Sport for free, whilst those who don’t can still get the service from BT in high definition for £15 per month or in standard definition for £12. BT will make it clear to those customers they can save substantial sums by switching their broadband back to BT. Satellite customers who sign up before August 1 2013 will see the £3 per month supplement for HD waived for a year." "To encourage people to switch, BT is offering new customers BT Infinity, its flagship superfast fibre product, from just £15 per month or copper broadband from just £10.00" So you don't even need to take infinity to get the channels for free. Very interesting for SKY customers. |
Re: General Sky TV Discussion
Thanks but no thanks :td: I've experienced BT Broadband before and infinity isn't even on the roadmap in my area as of yet. We now await Sky's reaction and incentives.

Re: General Sky TV Discussion
Lets see what SKY come back with. There are plenty of quotes on the BT website that are clear digs at SKY and their prices. A carriage deal between the 2 seems very unlikely now. BT mean war!
"BT’s aim is to increase the number of customers enjoying high quality sports on TV. Only one in five UK homes currently take a sports channel, possibly due to the high prices that have resulted from there being little real competition." "Ian Livingston, BT chief executive said: "UK Sports fans have had a rough deal for too long. Many have been priced out of the market but we will change this by giving away BT Sport for free with our broadband. Sports fans are the winners today." "There will be no requirement for customers to take a Sky TV subscription of any kind as BT Sport will be retailed by BT." "BT today unveiled its new BT Sport commercial TV packages for pubs, clubs, betting shops, hotels and other commercial premises. The company is offering top flight sport that includes live Barclays Premier League and FA Cup football and Aviva Premiership rugby, at prices that massively undercut Sky." "A typical independent pub taking BT Sport could save 78% versus the cost of Sky." "Eighty eight per cent of independent pubs who don’t have Sky say they would like to show Premier League football but Sky is just too expensive." "For those hotels that only want to offer their guests sports in their rooms, the BT Sport Pack, comprising all 3 channels - BT Sport 1, BT Sport 2 and ESPN, will be available at a room only charge of £3 per room per month, this is less than half the price for a single Sky Sports channel." |
Re: General Sky TV Discussion
Am i reading that as we will have to pay £15 for BT Sports in HD? Thats £2 more than ESPN is now. All depends on what happens with ESPN America now IMO

Re: General Sky TV Discussion
Not as bad as I initially thought its £12 as you get HD free for a year if you sign up before the 1st August , so basically £2 more than ESPN.

There are various adverts, interviews and features running on the channels just now. Worth a watch. The adverts suggest only BT Sports customers, who take broadband from BT, can watch the channels on the go via an app. 2 different devices can watch the same stream at the same time! Looks like BT Sports will not be on SKY Go.

Re: General Sky TV Discussion
Ok so i am trying to price up BT inifity BB for BT Sports, plus its faster than Sky BB as fibre. Let me lay it down here so i know if i am correct in my costing.
Sky: *ESPN = £13 *Line Rental = £14.50 *Unlimited BB = £7.50 Total = £36 That is how much it cost for ESPN, BB and Phone line now. BT: BB Infinty 1 = £23 Line Rental = £15.45 Total = £38.45 So BT is £.24 a month more but i get faster BB and i get free BT Sport and i can watch it on the go cia the BT Sport app Im trying to work out of i should stick with Sky BB and phone or go to BT. No matter what im staying with Sky TV |
Re: General Sky TV Discussion
Well seems i am unable to get Infinity in my area so im staying with Sky BB

Re: General Sky TV Discussion
Go the FAQ page of the app or similar and click on theSky email link. If an error comes up or your email client loads up with the bskyb email address, then you know your app is ok.
I pulled apart the code of the apps I have (took the code files out of the apk) installed and can see they are ok. The SEA have quite a few high profile companies in their hacked portfolio. Sometimes other hacks give details that can be used for hacks like this but the SEA often spear-phish which enables them to target specific companies. As to where that leads them, this time it was likely to one of Sky's developers or whoever there uploads the apk's to the market. They either got Sky's login details to the market and uploaded their own modified APK, or modified the apk on a developers machine they had access to. Security processes can be put in place to check checksums of files along the development process, which I guess Sky will implement if the internal machines wee compromised. I would like to see one of the modified apk's to a diff check to see what the SEA had changed. I am guessing there is no dangerous code, just images changed as its very simple to do and recompile the apk. |

Re: General Sky TV Discussion
The following link was provided to me by the legend that is Muppetman!
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/n...rts-offer.html "BSkyB is to announce significant price cuts to its broadband packages in direct response to competition from BT Sport." "A statement will be issued early this week, according to sources, and will concern the company’s internet and television bundles. The announcement is said to be a “market changer” and in retaliation to BT’s new free-to-view sports TV." Just found this: https://www.cableforum.co.uk/images/...2013/06/37.jpg This is the letter going to some O2 customers before they officially move to SKY later this year. However it seems SKY are offering even better deals than this one: http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/free...tomers-1556592 "Sky are offering free TV and Broadband for a year for O2 Broadband customers in advance of the switchover of their service to Sky. It's the Entertainment Extra+ service with 48 HD channels etc, plus their Broadband unlimited package." If this is the type of thing SKY is planning to fight BT and BT Sports with, next week could be very interesting for SKY TV customers with SKY Broadband. |
