I wonder what Sky sports channels will they be on. I hope it's Sky Sports HD1 and Sky Sports HD2. If they are put it on Sky Sports HD3 and Sky Sports HD4 we have more chance of getting Sky Sports HD3 and Sky Sports HD4 after the cat appeal judgement

I know nothing at all HD Boy but it seems a bit odd to do a deal singly for Sky Movies Classic HD.

But that may well be the case.

Looking forward to that channel whatever..................

Or you look back on previous deals, then look at Sky and come to the conclusion that we're not getting SSN HD or Sky News HD out of this deal.

It'll be when Sky accept the £1.30 in loose change and the ball of fluff Neil Berkett found down his sofa as an acceptable offer that we'll get it.

Since we're still slightly "off topic", I wish people would stop praising Sky for their heavy "investment" in new channels. They do it with money they're bringing in from subcribers, advertisers and shareholders - which as we all know is a ridiculous amount of money. It's not like they're being charitable about it.

Anyone who runs a channel, including the free to air ones, invest in themselves and their programming and yet many only gain revenue from advertisers and still manage to survive.

Sky's model of subscription and advertising income is wrong and that's why we end up with their greed over ruling their heads when it comes to channel sharing.

Take BBC iPlayer as an example of the desire or, in their case the need, to make your content available to as wide an audience as possible, by sharing it on all available platforms. If BBC adopted the Sky model, not only would they restrict iPlayer to be available only from the BBC, they would charge a premiun for it while bombarding you with adverts.

Surely I'm not the only one who sees this?

You do know that the BBC is a public broadcaster don't you hence why its content is freely available to all , Do MTV (viacom) offer content free , do Discovery network the answer is no hence the difference between a public service broadcaster and a pay TV one.

So Sky is being demonised for being successful, while Virgin spend their time answering tweets and e mails from some of our more regular posters with "can't say just now, it's a secret, wait and see". Not a good enough arguement for me:rolleyes:

Media Boy EXCLUSIVE: Yesterday +1 tests appear on Virgin Media.

It look like Virgin Media have got the rights to rebroadcast Eden +1 and Yesterday + 1 as part of the new UKTV deal.

I see that Yesterday +1 is now testing on Virgin Channel 897. It EPG says ''Coming Soon''.

If you go to TV Guide and to go Channel 897 and press I it will say the following:

Is there really any point to +1 channels when a lot of us have PVRs and catch-up / on demand options?

Come on, VM - more linear HD please!

Even with a TiVo I occasionally have to record programmes from the +1 channels due to clashes, so yes there is still a need for them.

Total servs 359 at 12.30pm to 357 at 14.40pm. Yesterday +1 removed from channel 897 and Test 43 is still on channel 890
Why has Total servs gone down by 2 when test 43 is still on channel 890 ?

One is Yesterday +1 been remove from viewers boxes.
Two is I think due to BBC Red button cuts.

Forget about that
Quote:

At the moment we broadcast seven ‘Enhanced TV’ (ETV) video streams, which are used to provide enhanced coverage of BBC programmes (for example, sporting and music events). But outside of busy periods the streams are not all fully utilised. As a result of this change, the number of ETV streams on satellite and, consequently, cable, will reduce to five.

We will also be closing one of the mosaic video streams used to provide embedded content in some Red Button applications. The News video mosaic stream, or “multiscreen”, is unaffected by these changes.

Yesterday +1 and Eden +1 - Most likely will launch when the 4 UKTV HD channels launch next month. (And before you ask they'll launch next month no release date has been announced)

Food Network - No idea, seen as you keep asking VM questions on twitter maybe this will be handy for you - http://www.facebook.com/FoodNetworkUK?v=wall

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2011) Vol. III.

Virgin Media are "talking" to all suppliers of all HD channels in the UK . i got this email 3 weeks back.
Quote:

Dear Martin

We are in discussion with the suppliers of all HD channels in the UK as we would like to bring more HD channels to our customers in the future. Unfortunately, it's not always possible for us to carry every channel we might want due to capacity and commercial considerations. However, we do constantly review and evolve the channels we make available and try very hard to give everyone something they really want. This is why is it's really useful to hear comments from customers like you as it helps us develop our future thinking and product roadmap.

Beyond that I am unable to comment on any unannounced launches or commercial discussions that are in progress as they are by their nature sensitive and confidential.
