Crozier seemed at pains to stress that the deal they have isn't exclusive with Sky when he was interviewed in a paper the other day.

Just a thought.

I looked on my Sky+HD box epg and there are quite a few HD shows on these and there are also quite a lot of movies in HD.

You do realise that Hugh is not a Virginmedia employee.

We can only tell you information that is in the public domain as a lot of what you want to know is business sensitive, and we are not going to tell you that kind of information as we would lose our jobs.

Don't know really, I have emailed UKTV who susbsequently told me to email VM who subsequently just said they are always reviewing their offer.

Maybe they will join as of course VM own 50% of UKTV. Perhaps UKTV want too much money for them or perhaps they are considered not popular enough.

The short answer I suppose is we don't know.

Like everyone I would have loved to know what is happening on the channel front but equally it's is probably unfair for us to badger long standing staff who have also been members of this forum for a while to leak info, I doubt it would be rocket science to establish who at least some of the staff are as they post of the official VM forums too.

Maybe contact the CEO's or retention departments. The CEO's office were pretty candid with me about Sky Arts HD probably not appearing for a while although that was contradicted by retentions who said it is launching soon as is Sky Classics HD.

You decide what's right, I went with the CEO's office personally but of course I could be totally wrong.

Even I am not ALWAYS right he he.

I am aware of this, and was about to include it in my post, but for the sake of simplicity decided not to. In hindsight it's probably an important point!

Still, I would have thought negotiations would be significantly easier with the connection there is and we would see the full portfolio of channels.

BBC confrim BBC Radio 7 rebrand date.

BBC Radio 7 broadcasts on Virgin Channel 910.

Sky News HD

I think that 'Newco' is just an expression used by lawyers etc when a proposed company restructuring involves transferring part of a business to a new entity, rather than a real company. Presumably at this stage nobody actually knows who or what will be taking over Sky News when (or if) the News International deal goes through.

That is indeed correct, it's a term I see used often in work.

However in this case I understand that the new listed company name actually will be called 'NewCo'

Perhaps it is a nod to News Corporation.

It's an evil Murdoch scheme to get businesses to accidentally transfer their assets to NewCo instead of newco!

I read something about it on the Picturebox site just recently.

Sadly though it is currently a stand alone service, you cannot access it for free if you subscribe to the Picturebox OD service from any provider, you have to pay again.

I know Nat Geo Wild HD and Disney Cinemagic HD are available on cable in Ireland, MGM is too but only in SD although I think that channel list page is for British customers.

Some aspects of the site dosen't seem that upto date, lazy Sky!

Luxe (Luxury Life as it's now known) is a FTA non subscription channel so maybe that's why it isn't listed.

I wonder when that page was last edited?

Unfortunately the page gives a last modified date and time of when you visit but the file name of the image that makes up the list of channels is "HDLogosTable_Feb2011.gif_312094639.gif" so looks as if the page was updated fairly recently.

Keep an eye on this link (Sky Sports 3 listing) - http://data.skyprogrammeinformation....396&chan=SPG3#

OR Keep an eye on this link (Sky1 HD listing) - http://data.skyprogrammeinformation....SKD1&week=396#

But at time of posting WWE Tough Enough was not in any listing for Sky1 OR Sky Sports 3 only WWE NXT was.

Thats a bit disappointing for one would have expected Tivo to be done at the same time as other users, what is their reason for this.

It had been mentioned before but as TiVo has never had any red button stuff it needs to be coded from scratch.

The only info from the web (That I have seen) says ITV1 HD. I not know if STV will show it LIVE but viewers in Scotland and Ireland can watch it on Channel 853 (Not in HD).

RichardCoulter 16-03-2011 03:46

Unknown channel on air...testing??

To get to the beginning of the EPG quickly and easily I always press channel 0.

This is usually an advert for a PPV event or the PPV slate.

Tonight it is an unknown channel showing "My Ex Girlfriends" on each and every hour. The screen is black with four white dashes at the top left hand side.

I wondered, going by the title, if it was an adult channel. After checking with all the other subscription and pay per night adult services, nothing matched what was being shown. Is this a new channel testing?

You have to pay 20 quid a month to suscribe to it l am afraid, l am not paying that, we used to get it for nothing when Setanta was going.

I have read posts on DS that would suggest it is being broadcast on the whole ITV Network, and that STV wll employ their own commentary team.

Should be good.

RichardCoulter 17-03-2011 04:06

Four new channels & unknown channel developments.

Further developments tonight:

* The total number of channels has changed on the EPG and we now have four extra.

There looks to be two new adult channels now on the EPG. One is "My ex Girlfriends" (that I saw testing last night) and the other something to do with swingers.

I think the other two are Sky film channels. Didn't Sky open a new classic channel shortly after the deal? It looks like that's on VM now and Sky Indie may be new too.

Anybody? (I don't subscribe to films).

* At about 2.15am I went to channel 0 and the EPG listings were for a childrens channel. Nothing matched any childrens channels on the VM EPG.

* Listings included 2.00am kat v kid, 2.20am Pokeman, 2.45 Pokeman and 3.10am Galaktic Football. The listings lasted well into tomorrow evening. Anybody know what channel these are on?

* When tuned to channel 0, there is no channel number showing at the front of the box.

* If one tries to set a reminder you get the standard PPV message about no reminder needing to be set as this is automatically done when the event was bought.

* If one tries to set record on one of these programmes, it goes red for a few seconds, before returning to normal.

* The white lines in the top left hand corner only appear when the mini guide is showing, otherwise it's just a black screen.

* I checked again at about 3.25 and the normal PPV slate was being broadcast.

I'm beginning to wonder if these tests are only done from, say, 2 to 3am??

Also, it will be interesting to see if a new childrens channel appears later today, as was the case with the adult channel.
