There's an issue in my area too BUT I have been told on good authority (I'm not saying who) that red button for the tennis wasn't scheduled to be on VM today but don't know why....

Odd....

The key thing is going to be when I have seen say cricket over runs and go onto the red button. Or in the case of the cricket World Cup there are games happening at the same time and to access the other games it was the red button.

Still looks to me like we don't have the full proper red button service and just what Virgin are wanting to give us :(

Looks like I've been proved wrong and we have not got the full service - glad I didn't hand over any of my hard-earned to Sky!

The gripe I have is that I like my darts and one of the big tournaments in the autumn shares the Friday night with four other live events (or at least, it has the last two or three years). And guess which one was pushed behind the red button - got it in one. That is why I will not pay Sky any of my money unless they give us the full service - why should I pay them when I cannot receive the material I'm paying for?

It may be that the reason that we have not got full functionality is that Virgin are still sorting out teething troubles. For that reason, I will keep an open mind and will keep on looking back here. I'll also keep my cash in my pocket UFN...

Mobes it has happened to me with the cricket as well two matches involving the west indies were on sky sports red button on sky a couple of months or so ago ,but were not available to vms sky sports subscribers, after emailing the ceos office i recieved a phone call the nub of which was "its up to sky what they supply to vm via the red button".

From that point on i knew we were not going to get the "full" red button service on sky sports, good luck though mate.:)

It's worrying, Richard. What i would point out though (but please correct me if I'm wrong) is that certain sports (was cricket one of them?), such as tennis, were specifically mentioned in the press release as having the red button functionality. If that's not the case and Sky can give it and take it away at a whim then something needs to be done/said about it!!!

I guess Mobes sky held all the cards when it came to negotiations over the red buton, and i am guessing what happened was they said we will give you all the football ie match choice and champions league, and a selection of other sports but it will be up to us which on a take it or leave it basis.

Tennis was definately mentioned in the press release, and cricket was the first sport on red button a west indies pakistan match as far back as last april, then no more cricket on red button until the highlights of the third test match last saturday ie august!.

One thing vm could and should do in my view would be to publish a proper red button list, but when i spoke to the lady from the ceos office she did not seem to know what would be on and when.! so perhaps it is as random as that football apart.

I presume so. Part of my email was to ask why the red button function is so hit and miss, i.e tennis one week and not the next and if it was possible for there to be somehwere they could list what red button we were going to get and when.

We'll see....

If anyones interested I had an email from Cindy Rose

Dear Mr ****** thanks for reaching out to us.

I’m very sorry to read of your disappointment that we have not been supporting Sky Sports’ interactive coverage of the Cincinnati Masters this week. We have been building up our portfolio of Sky Sports interactive services since the Spring and do still have a little work to do to complete our Tennis support. We do a have gap in our APT World Tour interactive coverage this month, but we will be providing Sky Sport’s full interactive tennis coverage from the US Open at the end of the month.

We’ll also be publishing a full schedule of the Red Button coverage soon, which will give all of our customers a full view of what's coming.

I hope that helps.
Best regards,
Cindy

It realy is good of them to send such perosnalised emails back when you know how busy they are...

So it looks as if the Red Button functions will be rolling out fully over time. So if your sport isn't "red buttoned" yet or only partially there's hope in the coming months it will be... watch this space...Also the publishing of what we'll be getting can only be a good thing... I hope they do that soon...ends all the speculation that way!

Excellent reply there Mobes well done, sounds like they have deicded its best to get a list of red button sky sports interactive on vm out there but why oh why does it take complaints emails to get the information out of them, its good they sent a reply so quickly and personalised too,i sent a email in about three months ago and somebody from the ceos office called me back as well for a chat, when they did not have the answers the lady said she would ring me back i thought ok then, but true to her word she called back a couple of hours later.

I was thinking about going to sky but after much thought and examples of good service like the one above i have decided to stick with vm as when they get it right they are excellent.:)

Thanks denphone:D I decided as i said above there are very positive examples of good customer service, and the fact all maintenance is included no getting onto outside contractors or bartering with sky to send sombody out for free its included,vm has always been reliable for me as well,it also carries all the main channels i watch and i am now back on sky sports so will see how the interactive button developes i would also miss other features, such as ESPN with TVXL.

I am sure sky is excellent i am not knocking it at all but for me vm is a better fit.:)

I have no red button on Football First: Match Choice as of right now 23.45. Mind you this is on SS2 whereas the VM website says it should be on SS1 - amateurs !

No cricket aside from one west indies one day match(april ),and Highlights of one days play in the third test(august) has appeared on sky sports red button on vm, and it is my belief sky are keeping red button stats on the cricket red button for themselves,as it would have appeared by now if that was not the case.

And has been pointed out already cricket is not on the interactive red button list at all for august.:(

But there you go,if the red button icon is not in the bottom right hand corner of the screen no matter how many times you press the red button nothing will happen.!!!!!!

But there you go.

Yes it would be nice to have the red button for the cricket but some red button is better then none and you never know it might be added for next seasons cricket.

Yes i do watch some football as a passive supporter of no one team in particular, but it is not my main sport just like i have met many football supporters who have no time for sport other then football.:)

Still at least i now know if i do get cheesed off about the situation in future sky is an option for me now.

Guys... lets first of all see if this is true or not... IF match choice isn;t available tonight (as suggested by the Red Button schedule) then I suggest we all write to CIndy Rose about it via email

I will not post it on here but PM me for it. If enough people email her then something maybe done!!!!

It was pretty unequivacle that we would get Match Choice. It will be a disgrace if we do not.
