Re: Cricket
Awful decision against Root today, given LBW when there was a clear inside edge. If only there was DRS...
|
Re: Cricket
l find it quite staggering that India are able to dictate about DRS as the ICC should be strong enough to tell them that we are having it in every test match whether they like it or not but sadly the top of the ICC is dominated with too much sub continent influence which in turn dictates things to their own liking.

Liam Plunkett burst leaves Lord's Test in balance.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/cricket/28385101 Well England must have a good session this morning or sadly the test is lost. |
Re: Cricket
Its actually painful to watch England play sometimes...
I wonder when India will declare? |
Re: Cricket
Its the same old England with bowlers who can't bowl straight and a captain who is as uninspiring and tactically clueless as they come.:td::td::td::(:(:(

Re: Cricket
Oh deary deary me the senior players are letting England down again.:(

Re: Cricket
Think our time dominating cricket is over. Trouble is, who is there to replace Cook as captain? Nobody is good enough to replace him. All very well saying resign but the next one could be just as bad or worse.

Re: Cricket
Can't remember where I saw it, but I read somewhere that the ECB will not sack Cook, he will have to resign the captaincy. Personally, I think they deserve this. They made KP a scapegoat and look at them. Still doing rubbish. If I was KP, I would be laughing a little bit at the state of the cricket team.

Certainly more positives than negatives.
Robson looks vulnerable and Cook is nowhere near his best with the bat. The rest of the team all improved their performances after the Lords test. |

India were an embarrassment, most of that team should be ashamed of themselves the way they've played in the last few tests, and especially for how they just rolled over today. |

Re: Cricket
New Zealand beat Sri Lanka by 99 runs in the first match, and as I type this England have a target of 300 to win, could be more in a few minutes time as Australia still have 4 wickets left.
---------- Post added at 07:33 ---------- Previous post was at 06:58 ---------- Nice hat trick to end, but a massive total of 343 needed to win. Congratulations Australia on the win. |
Re: Cricket
Well we have no chance because every time it comes down to the last 10 overs we seem to go for 100 runs at least and that's not simply good enough in one day cricket.
|
Re: Cricket
From what I saw of the innings, England looked to be playing like it was a Test match and that strategy doesn't work in ODI cricket. Doubt batting first would have made a difference to the outcome anyway.
|
Re: Cricket
The sad thing is Mark is we are light years behind in how the one day game is played now and sadly we saw that against Australia today.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/live/cricket/31457270 |
Re: Cricket
Look how useless we were between winning the Ashes in 1987 (I think) and then winning it again in 2005. There are cycles and unfortunately it is England's turn to be rubbish in cricket.
Once you get used to winning though it hurts to lose. Chin up England, let's get back to winning ways in our next game against New Zealand. Although the way they played against Sri Lanka makes me think that only against Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Scotland will be easy wins for us. |
Re: Cricket
l would not bet on us beating those last three as l remember our losses to Ireland and Holland several years ago Mark.
|
Re: Cricket
Come on den, try being optimistic like I am being told to be all the time.
|
Re: Cricket
Well we are still in and have not gone out so that's a positive.:)

Re: Cricket
Results so far from the World Cup:
New Zealand beat Sri Lanka by 98 runs Australia beat England by 111 runs Ireland beat West Indies by 4 wickets India beat Pakistan by 76 runs South Africa beat Zimbabwe by 62 runs New Zealand beat Scotland by 3 wickets |
Re: Cricket
Personally my money is on those dastardly Aussies to win it.
|
Re: Cricket
I'm going for South Africa
|
Re: Cricket
I think New Zealand myself. And I think that yet again, Ireland will the country to surprise everyone with their showing. I think Ireland have the right idea tbh, they attack like it is a 20 overs match and not play it like they have hundreds of innings to get a decent total like England seem to play like.
|
Re: Cricket
Latest result:
Bangladesh beat Afghanistan by 105 runs. Latest score: United Arab Emirates 67/2 after 14.2 overs. Zimbabwe elected to field first. |
Re: Cricket
Thanks Mark for those updates.:tu:
|
Re: Cricket
England women beat New Zealand by 8 wickets. NZ 60 all out after 19.4 overs. England in reply were 61 for 2 in 11.4 overs.
Zimbabwe squeaked a win against the UAE by 4 wickets. UAE were 285/7 after 50 overs, Zimbabwe ended on 286/6, winning by the 4 wicket margin. Looks like the biggest win so far is Australia against England with 111 runs between the teams. |
Re: Cricket
Yes its nice to see the ladies win and lets hope the men can get that act in order later tonight Mark.
|
Re: Cricket
Can but hope den.Seriously though if we can't beat the likes of Scotland and Afghanistan then we don't deserve to be in it frankly. It's up to us to make sure New Zealand don't make it 3 wins out of 3.

Latest results:
New Zealand beat England by 8 wickets West Indies beat Pakistan by 150 runs Australia and Bangladesh shared 1 point each after match abandoned due to cyclone At one point, I understand Pakistan were 1 for 4. Think it will be a tossup to see who is the worst team out of Pakistan and England this tournament. ---------- Post added at 11:08 ---------- Previous post was at 11:04 ---------- For those Aussie supporters (and England masochists) put these dates for the 2015 Ashes into your diary. 8 - 12 July, Test 1. Zimbabwe 2 fixtures from Pool A tonight: Afghanistan v Sri Lanka England v Scotland If we can't beat Scotland then frankly something needs to change quick in the England camp. |
Re: Cricket
Well at least its not just England that have big problems with South Africa given a absolute hammering by India and the Pakistan team also having lost their first two games.
With England ever since they got rid of their best one day player it has been downhill ever since with a catalogue of poor performances and poor selections by a coach l never rated the first time around.. |
