Awful decision against Root today, given LBW when there was a clear inside edge. If only there was DRS...

Re: Cricket

l find it quite staggering that India are able to dictate about DRS as the ICC should be strong enough to tell them that we are having it in every test match whether they like it or not but sadly the top of the ICC is dominated with too much sub continent influence which in turn dictates things to their own liking.

l am pretty sure there are plenty of better captains out there in county cricket and l remember a certain Mike Brearley who might not have had the best test average but he made up for that with his fine tactical captaincy and leadership.

The ECB should swallow the pride and bring him back forthwith as yes he is a maverick but mavericks can change a game in a instant which is something England don't have.

Definitely Den. I know it's the holiday season, but including four weekdays in what is supposed to be a five day match is inexcusable. Not everyone's on holiday. I want them to swing the bat and declare by tea as well.

I think the usual starting on a Thursday so sat/sun are days 3/4 works well. You're pretty much guarenteed play on those days then. I don't know why they've decided to change it to odd days, maybe to fit the tour into a shorter period of time?

Re: Cricket

Well we have no chance because every time it comes down to the last 10 overs we seem to go for 100 runs at least and that's not simply good enough in one day cricket.

Re: Cricket

From what I saw of the innings, England looked to be playing like it was a Test match and that strategy doesn't work in ODI cricket. Doubt batting first would have made a difference to the outcome anyway.

Look how useless we were between winning the Ashes in 1987 (I think) and then winning it again in 2005. There are cycles and unfortunately it is England's turn to be rubbish in cricket.

Once you get used to winning though it hurts to lose. Chin up England, let's get back to winning ways in our next game against New Zealand. Although the way they played against Sri Lanka makes me think that only against Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Scotland will be easy wins for us.

For those Aussie supporters (and England masochists) put these dates for the 2015 Ashes into your diary.

8 - 12 July, Test 1. SWALEC Stadium, Cardiff
16 - 26 July, Test 2. Lord's, London
29 July - 2 August, Test 3. Edgbaston, Birmingham
6 - 10 August, Test 4. Trent Bridge, Nottingham
20 - 24 August, Test 5. The Oval, London

Shocked that Headingley and Old Trafford aren't hosting any Test matches.
