I've attached a photo of the ports I have opened on my router (Asus RT-N66U) in the "Virtual Server / Port Forwarding" section.

Sometime it does change, but holding the button on the X1 to force it to shut down.

Upon turning on it normally is back to normal.

Service Name, Port Range, Local IP, Local Port, Protocol

Re: The Xbox One Thread

Just had an email saying Plex is now free on the Xbox One.

Now the confusion sets in for me, i installed the app on the Xbox and all i get is no server found.

I thought i would be able to stream movies from my Mybook world network drive, what am i doing wrong?

I've never used it as it seemed a rip-off to me.

Why not just use the media player app?

I wanted to use plex now that it is free so thought it would see an external network drive.

I currently use the built in app although it is very basic and a pain to navigate when you have 100s of movies to search through and i dont think there is an easy way.

SnoopZ -

Have you also installed the Plex server? The Plex app (client) is no good on its own.

I set it up yesterday, with the Plex server installed on my Mac and the app installed on my Xbox One (and other things).

Watched a few episodes of something I've got stored on my Mac. Worked quite well - better than the native Media Player :)

No I haven't as I don't play movies off a PC they're on a network drive so I am stuffed for now.

There are Plex servers available for different network drives:

https://plex.tv/downloads

Alternatively, just use the PC server and add the NAS as a location for it. Of course that means having to keep the PC on, though.

I just realised that if I watched a movie in the evening then the PC would be on anyway so I will give it a go after Christmas when home. :)

Cool.

There's still no way I'd pay for the Plex Pass, but the newly free Xbox One app is great. Much better using the Plex server and app than e.g. Universal Media Server and the Xbox One Media Player.

My LG TV also has a Plex app, which I'll give a try. It's older than the Xbox app, though, so may not be as good.

EA Access to be FREE for Xbox Live Gold members from January 19th to January 25th, which could be good for people who wish to try it out without spending £19.99 a year or £3.99 a month.

Unless the person would buy most of those games before they hit EA Access, then it is not really worth it, this is why i don't waste my money and rush out and buy and pay the earth for new games anymore, always get them cheap digitally eventually.

I've stopped buying EA games and instead now wait for them to hit the Access Vault.
