Re: What have you just bought?

A new Beko 9kg washing machine from AO for £250 (inc. next day delivery) to replace our 8-9 year old John Lewis machine which has today stopped working (drum not rotating or spinning) and cost around £350 at the time. I had a look online for possible failures (motor, circuit board, broken drive belt) and checked the belt was OK then decided it wasn't going to be worth paying out for a repair on an old machine or the hassle of me fiddling around with it for days and quite possibly coming up with nothing. I've gone for a 9kg machine on the basis that it'll have plenty of oommpphh for our needs and it has an auto detect setting which reduces the amount of water used according to the weight of the load. Anyway, I'll report back when we've had a chance to use it.

Yes we bought some online last week as it gives them a chance to get something they like and not have something which they don't like.

I agree nash we tend to use vouchers with family and friends where we have no idea what to buy for example our niece we buy a £15.00 Vue cinema voucher as we know that she will use them for my eldest son we just give money now and for his fiancee we now get a charm as we bought her a charm bracelet a couple of years ago although I'm thinking of getting her a nomination bracelet this year as she always admires mine.

Just a warning about these vouchers, make sure the recipients use them. An alarming number of people forget to use them so it's money just wasted. Osem Jnr. had a few gift vouchers (Post Office I think) which after a period of time reduced in value and if it hadn't been for me reminding him more that once they'd have been worth nothing. It cost him a few quid but hopefully he learnt his lesson.

Some reduced items: Baking spuds were £1.25 now 29p, Hereford rump steak was £4.50 now £2.99, Black puddings were £1.80, now £1.19.

Bargains that your freezer loves. :) (Not the spuds LOL)
