I've recently had my gall bladder removed, and the GP put me on Motillium for anti sickness, with instructions that I only take them if I feel sick. Trouble is, they take at least a couple of doses to work. |
Re: Moans and Pet Hates part 8
The anti-sickness medication I was given were stemetil that I just could not take as they made me feel very drowsy so the anti-sickness med I'm on now is metoclopramide 10mg one three times daily, I must admit I never thought that it would take a couple of doses for them to work.
The doctor has arranged for a scan and should hear within the next few weeks 4 weeks max. The doctor was very good took blood pressure 97/76 and examined me he did state that my tummy area was tender along with tenderness where the gall bladder is located, he also stated that if I should be in that amount of pain again go straight to A&E. He then went on to say stuff about pain management just like Stuart has stated it may take a couple of doses for it to work to the desired effect he has also advised that I take my anti sickness tablets as prescribed one three times daily. Thanks everyone for your kind words and advice. |

In my case I'd had what I didn't know was the first symptom of my problem some months earlier. Several hours of intense stomach pain in the night which, after being sick, then gradually dissipated the following day. Being a normal bloke I ignored it but promised the wife I'd go to the quack if it happened again which it did a few months later. Pity they didn't get the diagnosis right first time, however, and I was admitted as an emergency from A&E and put on morphine and strong IV antibiotics for almost a week. The consultant told me that these problems don't tend to resolve themselves so surgery is often the only answer. The good news is it can be done via keyhole surgery which means a hospital stay of only 2-3 days. |

What she does before though is have a Gaviston sachet which does help. To top it off my sister might have a gallstone, which doesn't help the week you start a new job. |
