MIAMI (AP) — A federal judge on Thursday ordered President Donald Trump to sit for a deposition in his $10 billion defamation lawsuit against the BBC by Dec. 11.

The order from U.S. Magistrate Judge Enjoliqué Lett came as BBC’s lawyers complained that Trump had delayed his appearance. Attorney Charles Tobin said that with two months left in the discovery period, “we still haven’t been able to depose the plaintiff.”
I wonder if Trump just drops the whole thing. The BBC aren't playing around and I think Trump is used to media organisations just backing down to him.

I do suspect that will happen, Trump does have a habit of backing off when faced with a hard NO.

The BBC seem to be using this to try and advance a story as well. I think they're loving it. They want to depose him and get stuff on record. I can't imagine he'll want to do that.

American media orgs do tend to just throw an out-of-court wad of cash at him to make him go away. He perhaps didn’t realise that the BBC’s charter forbids it from doing so. It is compelled to go to court. Trump is now in a bind, because if he drops the case the BBC is free to repeat the allegation. If he doesn’t drop it but drags his heels until the judge is forced to end it for him, the BBC can apply to the judge for costs. He may have been hoping simply to run down the deposition time limit but now the judge has made a specific order with a deadline which he can presumably be penalised for if he misses it.

Maybe Trump could just buy the BBC, the problem goes away and he'd find it a much better way of sharing his 'look at me' stories than his truth social media account :D

In other news, here are two separate occasions where he malfunctions mid-speech whilst on the campaign trail. Both occurred this week.

I am actually surprised he hasn't gone after the UK Government for not trying to stop the BBC. Obviously, we know that isn't how it works, but it hasn't stopped him before. I really don't think he wants anything brought out in the deposition that would then become public record (I think).

I thought I felt an earthquake a short while ago, now it appears it was probably just the whole World laughing at Trump :D
