Do anyone think as part of BT vs sky war we could see each other channel posting a ridiculous security code in a obtrusive way in similar to what VM had to suffer last year whilst watching football matches?

What does that have to do with BT vs Sky?! Its a security measure to help identify pirated streams. Its perfectly reasonable.

Are people tripping on acid here today?

This is correct. As well as pulling the text from the database and the like, it would require an immensely more flexible programming language than vbulletin boards use. I dabbled in PHP, Java, basic HTML, Visual Basic and other various forms of web systems.dev about 8 years ago at University, and was scoring 80% on a couple my projects throughout the 3 years. In fairness I was more of an operating systems man, but to block the quotes the coder would need a programming language which allowed him to override the ignore option and block replicas, and altered replicas (due to the addition of italics, quotes, formatting differences on the page code due to the text being in a different place). VBulletin boards are fairly basic so no chance of that. Not that I am an expert anymore in web, but pretty easy to tell from common sense. surprised anybody needs to ask really, 5 seconds of common sense and you're sorted.

I think you should stick to being an expect in your chosen field of knowing when the football is on the telly as hiding quotes programmatically would be an very simple.....even 8 years ago.

Anyway back on topic, I have to say I am not missing either Sky Sports or ESPN so far. By the end of the week I'll have been to 2 home European games and a home league game and I've listened some great radio commentary of my team's 2nd away victory in Europe. Broadcasts in Norway and Belarus have also provided me with some highlights.

I am a little surprised that VM haven't managed to get a deal but that seems to be the nature of the industry, with the paying public loosing out one way or another.

The difference was sky had theirs under the logo whilst VM had it in the bottom left in bold. I was under the impression that sky force them to have it there but I could be completely wrong.

No tripping on acid, just thought it was part of dirty tactics employed by sky to annoy VM under the banner of "piracy"; I don't believe ESPN had anything like that for theirs so could change if BT clamp down

I should be able to confirm in the next couple of days whether that email which went around saying you can sign up to just SS1 and SS2 is real or not. As I don't believe you can just get those channels. hopefully true though. gonna upgrade my household virgin setup to Premier collection + SS1 and SS2 in HD, and an extra Tivo instead of the standard box. going to demand a free installation too, otherwise they can bugger off. hoping it comes in around £100 pm. willing to hangup and ring back if i get a tough advisor. Then if no BT Sport on the morning of the 17th, i will just sign up via freesat, or just go to the pub and give it an extra month or so. would rather not waste £30-£45 if it is going to virgin in XL, even if it means missing a few (non Liverpool) games. to be honest i would much rather have the VIP, but no BT Sport is a deal breaker. gonna need that £15 a month to pay for it on freesat.

@yung timo

Haven't quoted you in respect of those many many members who have you on ignore, coupled with the fact that you seem to have an issue with people only part quoting you and not including all your usual rantings.

One question, I thought money was no issue to you or your family when it comes to watching football on TV and as any true sports fan will know (as you tell us often enough) you will pay whatever it costs to watch your sport. Though living in London and parties, girls, and clothes do seem more important than sport (not the behaviour of a true sports fan??). So I don't understand how you can be concerned about wasting £30 to £45 pm or hoping the cost will come in under £100 or why you'll need that £15 for your subscription.

It makes me think you are a bit of a bluffer (and not a very good one as you seem to forget how you describe your lifestyle from one post to the next).

Cheers

Grim

i see again OLD BOY that you cut your quote to bits :D i think i will treat that as an inside joke on the forum now. and that if a post of mine gets quoted but the quote is edited or cut, or lines made bold, that i have automatically won. that's the new rule now.

There is no point in reproducing your entire rant when we only want to comment on a part of it.

You haven't won at all. I don't think you are always right, and I have proved it with just one post. On the contrary, you are often wrong. You just don't see it.

Well it won't be long now - just 10 days at the outside I believe, and we should know the (dreadful?) truth. I hope that when VM make their announcement that we have BT Sports and ESPN/HD it will also include some additional surprises such as Sky Atlantic, etc.

I remain confident that it's all coming, but I can't help shaking a bit about the prospect and whether it will really happen....!

But I know it will!

I think....
