Normally I would gloss over posts like this, but unless I am wrong, you went to Sky then came back to Virgin.

If I am correct, why ????

Virgin have given us quite a few channels this year, so can you please explain what you mean by "we have enough trouble getting other channels on VM"

or are you just ranting again ?

RTE clearly state it is programmes from RTE 1 and 2 in Ireland so they must have rights to show some of these shows in UK....

Must agree. Except for Atlantic which may now come we are missing very little of note on VM except Sky Sports 3 and 4 HD and now even they do not seem to be impossible.... Very very good year from VM.

Indeed it has been a very good year but alas the moaners will always find something to moan about.

RTE not having enough programs? Please there is enough Rachel Allen Bake episodes to fill a channel so relax, joking aside this would be a good thing for the many Irish who live here who wish to access home grown programs like BBC world is to ex pat brits

RTE to launch UK Channel.

RTÉ plans to launch an RTÉ branded linear television channel – working title RTÉ Ireland. The channel will be made available free to air in the UK (England, Scotland and Wales) on Virgin Media.

If the idea actually gets off the ground, this is very good news. It would be nice to get other national TV stations from other English speaking countries as well, such as the US, Canada and Australia.

Rights issues are a real problem - we need a more flexible system! I'm sure it will come eventually (but whether it will be in my lifetime....possibly not).

Have you noticed all the additional channels we've had added this last year, Arthur? Things are changing fast now, you mustn't dwell in the past.

100% agree with this! It'd be very good to get the comedy channel of fox news and CNN usa added to VM. i'd really like it. The french tv news channel is all very good...but i dont speak french....

Mutleyf, let me answer your question on myself with VM/Sky.

Yes, l did go to Sky, but returned the same day due to being wrong info. I am pleased that l stayed with VM.

In regards to other channels on VM, what l meant was that VM do have trouble getting channels on the system. such as Atlantic.

If you want Fox News for the comedy then you really should be watching the Daily Show - they do a good job of picking out the funniest bits so you don't have to watch it 24/7.

Glad you stayed then !

I am sure Atlantic will be here one day, some people here see it as the holy grail of TV programming, but others see the channel as not as good as it once was.

I would like to know why we do not have it (the exact reason, not educated guesses), but we will never be privvy to that information.

The easy way to check is to use the RTÉ Player at http://www.rte.ie/player/gb/ - that way you will get a better view of which programmes they actually have the rights to show in the UK ...not a lot!
