Australia leads Champions acceptors

Dual Derby hero Australia remains in contention for both the Qipco Champion Stakes and the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes following the latest acceptance stage for the major events on Champions Day at Ascot later this month.

Following his runaway victories at Epsom and the Curragh, Aidan O'Brien's colt beat his elders in the Juddmonte International at York before suffering a shock reverse at the hands of old foe The Grey Gatsby in the Irish Champion Stakes at Leopardstown.

Fabre trio fired up for Chariot.

Andre Fabre has declared his trio of high-class fillies in for Saturday's Kingdom of Bahrain Sun Chariot Stakes at Newmarket.

If it was not enough to be represented by Fintry, who was nominated for this Group One after her smooth victory in the Atalanta Stakes at Sandown, Fabre sends his 1000 Guineas winner Miss France back to the scene of her finest hour along with Esoterique, who beat that filly in the Prix Rothschild.

Brilliant Treve the Arc heroine.

http://www.attheraces.info/article.a...e&sub=&day=Sun

Quote:

Treve bounced back to her brilliant best to successfully defend her crown in the Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe at Longchamp.

Criquette Head-Maarek's filly was a stunning winner of Europe's premier middle-distance contest 12 months ago, but had endured a largely forgettable four-year-old campaign prior to her return to Paris.

However, with Thierry Jarnet in the saddle once again, Treve travelled powerfully into the straight towards the far rail and when the jockey pushed the button as the gap came, she showed her stunning acceleration to seal a fantastic victory.

Treve stays in training next year.

Treve will sensationally stay in training next season to aim for an unprecedented third victory in the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe at Longchamp.

Criquette Head-Maarek's outstanding filly had been set to retire to become a broodmare after she brilliantly claimed a second consecutive Arc last Sunday.

Lucida heads Godolphin trio.

Quote:

Jim Bolger's Irish raider Lucida heads a three-pronged Godolphin assault on Friday's Dubai Fillies' Mile as the team goes in search of a belated first domestic Group One victory of the year.

It has been a disappointing campaign for powerful Dubai-based operation, with African Story's Dubai World Cup success in March the last time the famous royal blue silks were carried to victory at the highest level anywhere in the world.
No Middle ground for classy Ivawood.

Richard Hughes believes Ivawood can set himself up for a sparkling 2015 by gaining a first Group One victory in the vision.ae Middle Park Stakes at Newmarket on Friday.

The champion jockey has ridden Richard Hannon's colt in each of his three unbeaten starts, kicking off when a well-backed proposition for his debut in a Sandown maiden during June.

Ivawood felled by plucky Thought.

http://www.attheraces.info/article.a...e&sub=&day=Fri

Quote:

Ivawood's unbeaten record came to an abrupt end as Charming Thought claimed victory in a thrilling renewal of the vision.ae Middle Park Stakes at Newmarket.

Richard Hannon's colt was all the rage to make it four from four on his Group One debut and the 1-2 favourite moved sweetly for much of the six-furlong contest, but Richard Hughes had to get serious with his mount when he hit the rising ground and Charlie Appleby's Godolphin runner emerged as a serious threat.

The two fought to the line tooth and nail and it was 22-1 shot Charming Thought who passed the post a nose ahead in the hands of William Buick, providing the Godolphin team with its first Group One victory of the domestic season.
Belardo a Dewhurst sparkler.

Quote:

Roger Varian and Andrea Atzeni have already experienced the greatest year of their careers and it got better still when Belardo burst back on to the scene in the Dubai Dewhurst Stakes at Newmarket.

The down-to-earth pair, who will not be together as frequently next season with Atzeni signed up as Qatar Racing's first jockey, combined for a debut Classic last month with Kingston Hill in the St Leger.

Mission possible for mighty Noble.

http://www.attheraces.info/article.a...=&sub=&day=Sat

Quote:

Noble Mission emulated his illustrious full brother Frankel when landing an emotional victory in the Qipco Champion Stakes at Ascot.

The five-year-old, trained by Lady Cecil, has lived in the shadow of Frankel all his career but enjoyed his finest hour as he made all of the running in this Group One showpiece.

Noble Mission (7-1) pulled out all the stops for James Doyle to hold off Al Kazeem by a neck after a terrific tussle, while Free Eagle stayed on strongly for third place, a length and a quarter behind.

Frankel ended his racing days with victory in this race two years ago, when trained by the late Henry Cecil.
Nice to see Lady Jane gaining a much deserved success.:tu:
