When I read about these new ITV HD channels it didn't cross my mind that they expect people to pay extra for them. Don't think many people would pay for these if they did.

I assumed by stating they were going into the pay TV market with them it was a way of saying they wont be on freeview but on Sky/VM/BT etc instead. These would be bundled in with existing packages and not asking the subscribers to pay extra. Otherwise they will end up with the proverbial egg on their face when hardly anyone signs up.

ITV234 HD will no doubt be bought for not a lot of £ by SKY and VM and you'll get it them in the Medium package with no extra charge.

Not even ITV would think they are good enough to even charge £1 extra a month as stand alone channels....

so if ITV went into the £10 HD charge that Sky have how much would ITV get back from that ?

Interesting that this isn't on Freesat as aren't ITV behind that with a few others ?

ITV set date for ITV1 +1 launch?

Todays Daily Mail is reporting that ITV1 +1 will launch in January 2011.

Ofcom targets Sky's pay-TV movie rights.

Ofcom has today asked the Competition Commission to investigate concerns about Sky's sale and distribution of subscription premium pay-TV movies.

We think its a missprint, we already have Comedy Central Extra on 134, but will have to be moved to 185 if Comedy Central HD turns up

I was wondering why the newer HD channels only show under HD on the EPG,
but are not listed under Movies or Sports ??

The epg restricts channels to appearing in only one category. All the HD channels only appear in the HD category, not just the new ones.

The article i read said they have 2 years to look into it so I guess nothing in the imminent future will be affected.

Why on earth does it take that long!

A channel can only appear in one category- currently- so HD it is!
