So should we be less bothered by male genitalia than we are? Or is puerile jokes the only way men can cope with the idea?

Read the thread Gary and keep up..it's about art and this part is about how we view nudity in art..The NR has nothing do do with the discussion.

Life is art.
do you think the male penis is art?
are we bothered about it. or is it a nuisance?

I think the basis is really on how one person depicts art to another.
like if the male and his penis were doing a damsel about to faint pose. compared to a male and his penis standing in a crowded street looking bored.

I don't think a males anatomy is art. but I do think a womans is.

but then the woman would have to be attractive for me to class it as art. no doubt the man likewise.
art is very controversial really. we pick and choose in order to sway our decision and our tastes in order to class it as art or not.

I think the human body is beautiful even a man's genitalia..Even fat or skinny, old or young. From an artist viewpoint the body cannot be ugly.Beauty of course is supposed to be in the eye of the beholder but for artists like Da Vinci even ugly people had a place in his work. His sketch books are full of what many would regard as grotesque and ugly.Even an old woman or man with the wrinkles and marks of the life they have had is worth recording..It's only today's generations that think only the young and beautiful should be regarded as worthy of notice and even then that spot is reserved for a very narrow view of beauty.

How many size 0 6ft tall women are there in the world? and yet this is supposed to be the epitome of the clothes designers idea of the perfect woman.
Personally I prefer Goya's lovely fat and curvy women myself.;)

The driver for this is nothing to do with art, rather the cut-throat nature of the fashion industry - if you don't make the clothes look as good as they can be, you'll soon go out of business.

Height requirements in fashion are driven by two factors: sample size and preference. Designers and fashion photographers prefer taller models. Dresses for runway shows and editorial and advertising photography are cut to a “sample size” that reflects that preference. Once the clothes are put together it’s a lot easier to hire a model to fit than to redo the clothes for a shorter model.

With the result that they look ridiculous on smaller fatter women and men who are the majority of us consumers.;)

Anyway what goes around comes around. The 50s figure will be back some day.
