I'm not sure why you're finding it so difficult to understand. 360 and Stream run an OS that will provide access to Sky Atlantic. The old V6 and TiVo will not. It's a very simple carrot to persuade more customers to migrate.

My Contract says I'm a TV360 customer in the TV section. Shows I have a Stream box too.

Curiously, it says:

this is only available on our latest and greatest TV boxes – the Stream box and Virgin TV 360 box. If you’ve still got a TiVo or V6 box, get in touch and we'll give you an upgrade on us so you can watch Sky Atlantic with the whole gang.’

It doesn’t say you can watch it on a V6 box that has 360 software installed on it. They need to clarify this. Had they simply said it’s not available on TiVo software, it would have been a lot clearer.

That is not a thing. If it has 360 software, it's a 360.

Exactly. 360 is 360. The hardware that runs 360, and whether it previously ran V6 or not, is totally irrelevant.

An Intel PC is still an Intel PC, regardless of whether it's running Linux or Windows.

How can a 10 year old V6 be called "... our latest ...". "Upgrading" a V6 to run TV 360 software doesn't require anybody to "get in touch".

Maybe SA will be available on a V6 running TV 360 software, but there's nothing specifically saying that.

I have a NOW TV subscription, so either way, I'm not that bothered, especially as NOW TV will include HBO Max.

Intel is a chip manufacturer, so that's not a fair analogy.

If a V6 has Horizon/360 installed over the top of TiVo, then it's not a V6 anymore. It's a 360.

I agree, but it's not clear. Virgin is saying it's not on V6 boxes. That is what is confusing to people.

So what do the contracts of people with a V6 powered by TV 360 say? Mine says "Virgin Media TV V6 box, powered by TiVo". Even if I "updated" to TV 360 software, it would still be a "Virgin Media TV V6 box". There is a distinct and separate "Virgin Media TV 360 box".
So when VM refer to TV 360 box, does that include a V6 box running TV360 software? When VM say "we'll give you an upgrade on us", does that mean TV360 software or a TV360 box? It's still not a properly answered question by VM or anybody else. Just don't go jumping into using TV360 software expecting to get Sky Atlantic. It may happen, it may not.

I updated two TiVo V6 boxes to TV360 when the Horizon software interface was first introduced in the UK in November 2020. I have since added a VM Stream box to my set up as well. My contract (pictured below) describes the box as a TV360 set top box.

The Horizon boxes were first brought out in Europe in 2012, and the Horizon 4 set-top box was actually introduced as the ‘V6 box’ which ran on the TiVo interface in the UK. The current Stream boxes are running Horizon 5.

Additional Info.

There are actually two hardware versions of the V6 box.
The older boxes were manufactured by Arris and designed to operate on both the TiVO and the Horizon V4+ platforms. There are reports of these older boxes failing on conversion to the 360 (Horizon) format, possibly due to the age and usage of the box being converted.
VM (Liberty Global ) have also produced a Humax box alongside a newer Arris box and these boxes can only operate on the Horizon platform.

Oh for goodness sake. You've had this explained to you multiple times by multiple people, and yet to continue to fabricate a reality that doesn't exist. For someone that says you are "not that bothered" you sure are banging on about it

Rest assured everyone else, if you have a Virgin TV box with 360, or a Stream box, you will receive Sky Atlantic. Don't let this pedant cause you any concern.

Simple question I hope. Have seen quite a few posts saying upgraded boxes V6 to 360 are flakey, is it better to try of new box if moving to 360 ?

No. There's no option of a new box anyway, unless you move to Stream.
