Re: Smart Meter, Yae or Nae?

3 vans turned into 4 as various techs tried to get yet another smart meter to communicate next door. No luck again.

You would think they would install the meter ABOVE THE ROOF but they dont seem start enough to realise something is going on!!

Do cell phones work inside thier house??

Above the roof?? No the meters need to be physically accessible.

Only close to windows, I was told, but not in the hall and stairwell on the same side of the house as the meter boxes.

Could the supply meter not be instaaled in a box on the exterior of the building as with many relatvely new (about 20 years) estates?

I'm definitely in impatient mode. :D

How's your first month on the Tracker Tariff?

Not a bad rate yesterday it was 15.14 compared to 25.26 for the flexible tariff in my area, some people on the Agile Tariff got free Electricity too, but Agile isn't suitable for my usage times.

Not sure of the Gas savings and can't be bothered doing the calculation yet but I have saved £16+ on electricity.

My compare app has been less than helpful with dates disappearing and not tying in with my bill dates. Wish there was a Gas Compare equivalent app but seeing evidence of a £16+ saving this month on electricity alone means I will stick with the Tracker option.

Like you Agile isn't suitable for us.

All in all I will just pay the bills as normal keeping an eye on the average trend in prices, and, as long as I am saving something over the standard rates, I will be happy.

Mine was about a week and they posted it through the letter box as the box is small.

If you go to the octopriceuk site and assuming you have added your API link from your Octopus account then you can see all your savings at a glance as it does the maths for you.

Snip

Long answer. :D ......
I have been trying to use the octoprice site but it would never accept that the API/my account existed.

I did have a couple of glitches with a couple of weeks readings at the new rate disappearing but when I phoned it was soon sorted out and the correct figures for my period on Tracker were used when my bill was generated.

Phoned again yesterday after yet a another fruitless attempt to register and a nice lady octopus found that (despite my account now being sorted) I still had a marker on my account and she wondered whether this was the cause of my problem
..so...fingers crossed with the marker on my account having now been removed it be recognised by octoprice.

Up date. Just tried again and I now have Octoprice. :)
I have left my screed in place in case it throws a light on may be happening if any one else is having a similar problem.

If it's fixed it should work straight away.

Strange that your API worked with the Octopus Compare app, or maybe you don't have to paste in the API link as I can't remember?

Great, it means when you click on 'My Savings' you will see some savings info which should be accurate to a few pence compared to your bill(atleast it was for mine). Depending on where you click on the graph it either gives you your savings from the start of your Tracker period or the given Day/Month you clicked on.

Another good piece of info is to click on 'Data Checker' this shows you what data has been sent to Octopus, usually my Gas data is a little behind the Electricity data being sent. Try not to worry too much if you see data missing but it may be a problem.

My savings since I went on the Tracker on April 11th are £16.02 for Electricity and £13.20 for Gas compared to their Flexible Tariff.
