Yes, and your post is backed up by Iain Martin, political commentator and editor of CapX who wrote a good article in today's FT including "But the BBC will not be undone yet, and not by the current prime minister, who has, as he was always going to, decided not to arouse the fury of the viewers and listeners of middle England. Mr Cameron may be many things. He is not an idiot."

I can't see LGI launching another Superhub, they've only just launched a Europe-wide Superhub and their aim is to standardise technology, not introduce more devices than necessary.

.... neither do I, but, doesn't the Horizon box that Liberty deploy in their other cablecos contain a router/hub, thus not needing a separate router?

THis is something that used to happen here, an all in one box. Great until something breaks, then you lose not just tv but your internet too.

I don't think the new TiVo will become the main broadband connection, remember sky can use sky q boxes as wifi as well as the main broadband. And there was plans to run the phone line via the superhub so we still need the main superhub

I can't see anything in the brochure that suggests Horizon has a built-in router/hub. Indeed, LGI's new 1Gb router was mentioned in the investor call and pictures of it with different logos appear in the investor call slides, so I doubt it would be given such prominence if it was not needed for Horizon. http://www.libertyglobal.com/PDF/hor...chure-2012.pdf

That's right. SOmeone on the internet forum said VM will start VOIP in a few years, so needs a seperate router for that.

I think that will be to allow a wifi connection between the box to stream content between boxes

But page 16 of the manual says "If you ordered a upc cablecom internet subscription with your new Horizon box, you can use the Horizon box as an internet router and wireless access point."
In fact, there are two eras of Horizon - the one with XBMC software (per the manual) and the later one with RDK software shared with Comcast. Perhaps the later versions of Horizon don't have the router/hub built-in?

But this box will not be horizon. And as virgin plan to bring voip, I defo think we will still have a independent router

Agreed. Horizon and Tivo are just operating software anyway. The box will be Eos. The new Superhub is prominent on the Swiss page. http://www.upc-cablecom.ch/en/

The only thing i watch on BBC is masterchef (i could live without it), that's it. if they went down the subscription route they may be surprised how many millions of LF payers they lose.

i wouldn't subscribe.

There are many public amenities that I don't use, but are funded out of national/local tax. Should they be made subscription services?

Of course not; we all pay for many public services that we don't personally use, but their net benefit to the country as a whole is positive.

Here more information we got yesterday: (We have hold back some info.)

The new TiVo boxes will have more tuners all of them can record at once. Its own dedicated superhub to work and only got 1Tb of storage.

Viewers who want one will need to pay extra per month. (Prices are DNP).

---------- Post added at 12:17 ---------- Previous post was at 12:15 ----------

We have not seen any new info on that app testing on TiVo boxes right now in weeks.

Can I ask is it an external super hub or a internal superhub inside each box. So they are still sticking to 1tb of storage when sky offers 2 tb. An extra fee is expected

Hmm wonder is going to pay for those...unless it's part of the new Tivo costing?

1) The launch date of August - we was told yesterday "May not happen".

2) On the Superhubs - no info was given on if anyone who wants two new TiVo boxes will get two superhubs.
