As soon as I saw the hands and the key in the reveal, I knew it was either a woman or Donald Trump.

Pre-judging someone before they have even done a episode seems rather blinkered to me.

Doubt very much I will be, it got dull and stale years ago imo and was/ is in need of another long hiatus rather than desperate gimmicks

They have changed the show runner/head writer for the first time since Matt Smith took the role.

Oh come on, she's a woman; it's not as if she's an alien from another planet or anything :erm:

Or another way to read the post in its entirety is the show is dull and tired, it'll take more than putting a woman in the lead role to save it

Re: Doctor Who

I had largely given up on it, mostly watching when prompted, and just out of loyalty more than anything, many of the recent stories have been poor, convoluted, complex and hard to even follow (and just dull).

You could say this was maybe a desperate attempt to get people interested in it again, but I still think it was just pandering to the activists demanding it must be a woman.

The Christmas episode had better be leaps and bounds better that most of the recent festive specials, otherwise its going to get panned, and this change soundly blamed.

For the record, my daughter gave up on it about 3 seasons ago as she didnt like Capaldi, and of this change ? "Well thats stupid". She still wont be watching it.

The change of Doctor and of the writers will start at the beginning of the next season. At that point we'll see the new Doctor and also new writers. I stopped watching after Smith left because it all got a bit boring but will give the new series ago because of the change of actor and writer.

It's the closest we'll get to a reboot.
