I don't think they have "red button" in the US, so it's had to be added and that has taken some time. Possibly longer than they thought it would.

SkY sports red button on TiVo launched 02/03/12 http://community.virginmedia.com/t5/TiVo/Sky-Sports-Interactive-Now-Available-on-TiVo/td-p/1071289

How the hell can they not have red button service for the biggest football club competition in Europe and for one of the golf majors but have it on the old box. Beggars belief!

Explain that away

Because when Sky started development on the applications for VM, TiVo hadn't even launched. Quite reasonably, they did the apps for the highest numbers of users first.

As explained on that vmcommunity post, the TiVo apps will be delivered over several months, just like happened with the Liberate apps last year.

Even the mighty Sky can't do stuff instantly.

So it's Sky's fault, who'd have thought it eh? Am I right in saying that red button is available on F1 channel for TiVo but not on HD box?

I do not have Sky sports red button on the F1Channel on my VHD box, it is due in July.

Carl, obviously you are entitled to your opinion but to me TiVo is beginning to look like a large space to store hours and hours of tv and not a lot more.

Which is exactly what it is supposed to be (ie a way to find things you want to watch from whatever source) and I'm more than happy with that.

So why is it we had Masters on the range on Sky Sports red button on TiVo this week then and not the Masters SP.:)

Because they don't have infinite resources. Maybe they could have done golf instead of F1, or football instead of F1, but for whatever reason it was decided to do F1 first. Considering the popularity of F1 and the number of races, I think they made the right decision.

Don't know. But I'd bet there is a good technical, commercial or operational reason.

Everything happens for a reason. :)

So basically if you want all the services that virgin tv provides you need two boxes. Sorry that is not good customer service. Splitting the HD and red button available between HD box and TiVo box smacks of maximising your profits to the detriment of the customer.
