Starship troopers 3 - Marauder
poor acting, poor script, poor sets, poor cgi, poor, poor, poor!!! To me it comes across as a spoof of itself. Dire. |
re: Rate the last movie you saw
WALL-E - 8/10 (it got a little saccharine towards the end, imho, but the first 80% was cracking, again imho).

re: Rate the last movie you saw
Batman Begins 11/10 Crikey. A very real hero.
|
re: Rate the last movie you saw
The Godfather. 6/10.
The Godfather II. 8/10. Never seen more than a few minutes of either but had read the book years ago. Felt Diane Keaton let her part down in both films. Pacino and De Niro were both excellent. Minor gripes about certain scenes but otherwise impressed. |
re: Rate the last movie you saw
The Dark Knight - 10/10
|
re: Rate the last movie you saw
Journey to the Centre of the Earth 3D - 7/10 only getting a good score for the 3D elements of the film, otherwise it was not that good.
Dark Knight 10/10 - Almost the best film I think I have ever seen. Started of great and just got better and better. Ledger really did make the Joker scary! |
re: Rate the last movie you saw
Yep - Jack Nicholson's version just pales (if you will excuse the pun) in comparison.
|
re: Rate the last movie you saw
Just got back from Dark Knight
Easily a 10/10 from me. I don't know if Jonathan Ross was watching the same film as he slate it. Could be film of the year. |
re: Rate the last movie you saw
I would say 12-10 for Dark Knight myself :) what an excellent movie
|
re: Rate the last movie you saw
The Dark Knight
10/10. Best Batman movie ever. Best comic-book movie ever. Great performances all round, especially from the late Heath Ledger. |
re: Rate the last movie you saw
The Dark Knight. Predictable but good. 7/10
|
re: Rate the last movie you saw
300: 7/10. Better than I was expecting.
The Da Vinci Code: 5/10 - watchable if you've not seen it before. |
re: Rate the last movie you saw
Just watched Starship Troopers 3 : Marauder.
Which was better than the second one and had Jolene Blalock in it so can't be all bad :) Although... Spoiler:
But.... Spoiler:
So 5/10 |
re: Rate the last movie you saw
Starship Troopers, they're still trying to make those? :) Everyone I know loved the first one and well... Most people either didn't even hear about the second one or watched it and wanted their money back :D
|
re: Rate the last movie you saw
Seen it before but ended up watching it today The longest day
without doubt the greatest war movie ever made it's epic At every level from the cast ensembled to the way it's shot beautiful just Beautiful even the use of beethoven's 5th used at just the right moments 10/10 |
re: Rate the last movie you saw
I watched Wall-E tonight, I give it a 4/10, I was really looking forward to it as the adverts have been on for months which made it look really good but personally the adverts before the movie were more fun than the actual movie itself.
The Dark Night 10/10, the only thing is the sound went funny in the last 30 mins so I need to go back and watch it but still a 10/10. |
re: Rate the last movie you saw
I am Legend
8/10 Will Smith is awesome, even though the plot is not new ... |
re: Rate the last movie you saw
Just saw:
You, Me & Dupree. 2/10. My friends said it was funny. I smiled once. Varsity Blues. 5/10. Skip this, rather watch Friday Night Lights for a good sports movie. |
re: Rate the last movie you saw
The X-Files I Want to Believe. What a dreadful, dreary, depressing piece of ****! I'm so glad I didn't pay to go and see this utter rubbish. Not even fit for TV.
-20/10 (honest). :td::td::td::td::td: |

The X-Files I Want to Believe
This was not really an X-Files related film |
re: Rate the last movie you saw
The X Files: I Want To Believe
Full opinion in the specific thread. IMO a lame & seriously disappointing return to the big screen for Mulder & Scully, which is more of a mediocre feature length episode (or perhaps mediocre TV movie) than a big-screen outing worthy of a seven pounds cinema ticket. I rate it... Lame, dull, disappointing, & mediocre / 10 |
re: Rate the last movie you saw
Smokin' Aces - 7/10, fun (violent) film.
|

Batman/ The Dark Knight 10/10

Humans did not seem to learn from the mistake on earth and were busy dumping as much trash into space but where in space were they getting the resource to make such trash. Cute and my 5yr old loved it. I was happy to enjoy it for what it was which was fun in most parts but as noted above I thought the plot had gaping holes in it. |
re: Rate the last movie you saw
Die Hard 4, apart from Willis jumping on the fighter plane, I would have to say excellent film.... 9/10
|
re: Rate the last movie you saw
Not great reviews of the x-files movie going round. A friend asked me to go but I decided not to ;)

re: Rate the last movie you saw
The Mutant Chronicles
3/10, extremely dissapointed, i had hope that it would be good with so many high profile actors in it but after 20 minutes i was ready to claw my own eyes out, exceedingly bad CGI, very poor acting, all the actors looked quite bored with their roles. Journey to the centre of the earth (NOT the TV version of 2008, the other one) 6/10, quite enjoyable, bit tacky with cheap CGI though. John Woos The Killer & Hard Boiled 10/10, classics! |
re: Rate the last movie you saw
Stargate: Continuum (2nd straight-to-DVD continuation of SG1)
8/10 Great stuff. Note to Chris Carter - *this* is how you make a movie after your series has finished... |

re: Rate the last movie you saw
BloodRayne - not quite as bad as I was expecting, though I could have done without finding out just how saggy Kristanna Loken really is, some women look better with their clothes on. :(
The extended flashback sequence at the end was both stupid & pointless. |

District 13: 9/10. It lost 1 point for the subtitles being over the actual picture, instead of in the black bar at the bottom, which made them more difficult to see. That's probably the fault of the channel that showed it [FX], rather than the actual movie though.
If you want to see a really good action movie that isn't all Hollywood special effects, & you don't mind watching a foreign language movie with subtitles [unless you're fluent in French, which I'm not, though I do know enough to have spotted a few errors in the translation], then you should see this movie. |

re: Rate the last movie you saw
Yeah, I almost always choose subs rather than dub.
Although for some films, bad dubbing does fit & make it more amusing. |
re: Rate the last movie you saw
What does bug me is when there's an error in the subs that's so basic even I, with my extremely limited knowledge of foreign languages, can spot the mistakes. Even I know that "avec plaisir" means "with pleasure", not "be my guest" [District 13]. [/nerdy rant]
|
re: Rate the last movie you saw
Quote:
It's dependant on the type of movie for me, slow romance/drama/horror/thriller movies i will watch with subs, same for comedy. But for action, i do prefer dubs due to wanting to just turn my brain off and enjoy the movie! For instance the english dubs on dragon dynasty releases are usually quite good. T |

re: Rate the last movie you saw
Day of the Dead (Based on George A Romero's Day of the Dead) 6/10
Not as good as the previous remake of Dawn of the Dead, was actually hoping it would be in the same style, but still a reasonable modernisation of a pretty naff zombie film (if I'm totally honest, I don't rate Ramero's films anyway, especially after Land of the Dead-boring which showed that while other zombie film makers had taken his ideas and successfully expanded them, Ramero just hadn't). Starts off a bit pants, the zombies are pretty naff, but it picks up near the end, and there's one bit that made me laugh out loud when the slimy doctor in the base gets, oh shucks you'll have to see for yourself. |
re: Rate the last movie you saw
Fearless (Jet Li, english dub, unrated/uncut version)
Enjoyed it alot more than the theatrical release. 8/10, one of jet li's finest. Iron Man 5/10, mediocore, too much of a family movie. DeathRace 6/10 |
