Re: Virgin Media V6 - Powered by TiVo(new STB)
So what was the purpose of registering interest if you then have to ring up and order it anyway?
When other people have been offered the new v6 boxes for free I'm not about to rush and ring Virgin to give them money for something I 'may' get for free. |

Re: Virgin Media V6 - Powered by TiVo(new STB)
Sounds like they are now charging people for the upgrade AND cancelling any loyalty discounts at the same time. I strongly suggest people check their forthcoming bills extremely closely if they want to be a part of this shambles. I would have suggested making a note of the person you speak to and made detailed notes/record the conversation but with VM it doesn't seem to matter as they seem happy to tell you anything and then charge differently down the line. I know from personal experience that they can agree an offer with you and then "change their mind" (their words, not mine) and charge whatever they like without letting you know and there is no comeback. Registering a complaint and asking it to be escalated for someone to call you back, just gets ignored, in my experience.
Seems like they are giving the tablets away for free to new customers, maybe they have realized there is no market for a 14" tablet (with VM restricted old version of android) when you can get much bigger tv's with android built in for the apps (for much less cost) - does TubbyTablet even have the means to remotely change volume/channel? |

Second person was very helpful. Confirmed the £64.99 was for both V6s and possibly included both activation fees too. I was told that my VIP package would go up by £10 a month, so seems they are charging a monthly fee of £5 per box, which I didn't think was too bad. My loyalty discount also absorbs some of this cost anyway. |

So I have to pay £99.95 for the two V6s, £44.95 for the activation and £40.00 for the technician visit, less £50.00 loyalty, which makes the total bill £139.09. The earliest date I could get was 11 January and the slots are going like hotcakes, so if anyone is still thinking of getting a V6, I wouldn't be thinking about it for too long! Also, please be patient with the CS staff. The information hadn't been uploaded onto their systems even by lunch time, but they are doing their best. Re: Virgin Media V6 - Powered by TiVo(new STB)
I'm a little disappointed that not more customers have been contacted by Virgin Media offering the upgrade. I registered this households interest fairly early on and I'm not saying that makes us "entitled" to get a V6, just that it would be nice if VM acknowledged more customers loyalty especially as there are a lot of us that pay £135-£140+ per month.

Re: Virgin Media V6 - Powered by TiVo(new STB)
Everyone currently gets a 'free' manned install as Quickstart is not currently available for V6.
So you will only be charged the £14.99 order activation fee plus the appropriate V6 activation fee for your V6 and package choices. Once Quickstart is available for V6 and it's offered, if you choose a manned install instead then you'll be charged an additional £40. |

Re: Virgin Media V6 - Powered by TiVo(new STB)
Just ordered two V6's myself, really nice guy on the phone, I was the first person he has spoken to about these and initially applied the wrong codes. We run 4 x Tivo boxes, 1 x 1TB and 3 x 500GB, they are installing 2 x V6's for us for £64.94 with no monthly bill uplift. Also they are sending our a new SH3 free of charge (currently using as SH2)
Was originally given an install date of Feb 2nd but managed to get them to do it on Jan 4th.. One issue I have is that I was being asked in the main V6 would be near to the hub, my 1TB Tivo which is being replaced by the V6 is connected to the SH2 in another room by Cat5 cable. Does anyone know if the cable they use the connect the V6 to Router is it a standard Cat5 cable as i really dont want to move my router. On another point, I use a IR repeater to change the channel when upstairs, does anyone know if you can still use these with a V6? |
Re: Virgin Media V6 - Powered by TiVo(new STB)
I'm waiting to see what the order details say online tomorrow. I also bet self install will be available next month. They just want the extra cash right now of course. They know most people could easily do self install.

Re: Virgin Media V6 - Powered by TiVo(new STB)
Rang retentions back up and think I've been given slightly wrong information originally to there being only a £14.99 activation fee and the two boxes being free. She said there is two boxes to be installed but a charge of £64.94. Maybe people that are being charged less are ones that registered interest in the box but Virgin didn't get round to ringing them?
|
Re: Virgin Media V6 - Powered by TiVo(new STB)
I've just phoned and have been passed around by the offshore call centre, first one said that they couldn't do it and to phone a separate "Sales" 0800 number. I phoned that and the person on the end of the phone kept saying Virgin Mobile all the time and then said he couldn't do it and passed me through to "Customer Care" who then started asking me for my details all over again. Thought I was getting nowhere with this so started again by going to retentions who wanted to charge me £99.95 per box despite me being on the Big Kahuna package which I thought was equivalent to Full House but since I only had 152Mbit internet rather than 200Mbit she wouldn't let me have it at £49.95 cost per box.
I'm going to phone again in the morning. |

Re: Virgin Media V6 - Powered by TiVo(new STB)
I have just placed my order for two boxes on the online chat. Cost is also 114.89 with an installation date of 1st Feb.
It wasn't easy though as he started off by telling me it was 154.89 for one box. When I asked for a breakdown of the price he came back and said he could do both for 114.89. Strange. The he tried to tell me I could only have one box installed at a time as the system would not allow two to be installed so I would need two separate engineer visits. I questioned it and low and behold both are being installed on the one visit. Quick question for you guys - I have a SH2 and he told me it did not need to be changed to the SH3 for the V6 boxes. Is that correct or do I need to contact them again and get a SH3 fitted as well? |
