Newcastle shortlist as follows:

Demba Ba (Approached with a bid of £1m for a loan deal)
Bafetimbi Gomis (Approached, Bid accepted, Negotiations at a standstill)
James McCarthy
Geoffrey Kondogbia (Unsure if the famous Joe Kinnear knows he's about to sign for Monaco...)
Radja Nainggolan
Andre Ayew (Approached by Newcastle in France, Newcastle wish to sign whether Cabaye leaves or not)

Chances of signing any.. 0%

Wenger has really ****ed me off today. He said in his presser that Bendtner leaving is looking unlikely now so he'll use him if he's fit. the guy is a total waste of space who disrespected the club but hey i guess thats better than spending money which seems to be a criminal offence! he says buying a lot of players does not do good for squad gelling or whatever. the guys lost his marbles. fixated on his flawed vision. he was asked if he's still in the market, any closer to signing players to which he replies yes. big big weekend now for Arsene. Tottenham at the Emirates on Sunday then transfer deadline on Monday.

Arsene Wenger is both the problem and solution at Arsenal. Its crazy. The club needs a shake up. It shouldn't be like this.

And he says in his interview that he is not going to panic buy and my answer to that is you have had four months to buy players and so far for Arsenal supporters he has bought in diddly squat in that period.

I'm a bit dubious about that quote. The years wrong for a start, but I do recall him slating them. I just don't remember the groundnuts bit. It was after we'd knocked them out of the CL and none of them took it very well  I do see why they had the hump but hey ho. They all say things in the heat of the moment until the cash is flashed. I think Fergie said he wouldn't sell Madrid a virus...I remember how well Bilbao played a year or two ago, but I can't recall Ander Herrera. That's not to say he's no good though, all that team were. Still no cash purchases then thenry?

I've no doubt most of us wouldn't. It's the modern mentality where most think "If we can't win then we don't want any other English team to". Up until the English ban in the 80's I can honestly remember watching and cheering on every English/British team in Europe. Since the ban ended, and the arrival of the Sky TV influence of having so much football available to us all, it's gone even more tribal than it ever was.

I disagree. I support other teams. But that doesn't stop me enjoying the opposition too. UK team plays, I generally watch. If they play a big team, I enjoy both teams. If opposition plays well, I enjoy that that.

And yes, if man utd lose, I enjoy it. But more for it being a surprising result, as those type of games interest everyone. I would react the same if it happened to Barcelona, Madrid etc

I try not to worry what others think of my team(s). I am often a harsher critic at times. :D

Mr Pharmacist 31-08-2013 12:26

Re: Football Season 2013/14 & Summer Window

That's fair enough colin. Don't get me wrong, I watch any match I can, and generally enjoy them all in one way or another. Take City today, I'll chuckle if they don't win, but I need them to batter Hull for the benefit of my various fantasy teams!. With the european games we need our teams to do reasonably well to keep up the good UEFA coefficient we have. It's just that when it gets to a game that's more important than others, some attitudes towards your rivals change. I'll happily admit that's what happens to me, right or wrong.

There was no revolution and I'm not being biased but surely I'm not the only one that can see Di Canio for the idiot he is. His management style is similar to that of Roy Keane and has no place in football. Sunderland made a wise move by looking at foreign players but Jozy Altidore seriously? I said previously in this thread that it would take some time for it to come together but I don't see much patience in Di Canio and the board will lose their patience with him especially when he loses the dressing room due to his huge mouth.

A good manager would address his team like professional players and tell them why they lost and how they're going to fix it. Di Canio however will spit his dummy out and rant at them like they're kids.

Gus Poyet might have been a better bet for Sunderland and still is available.

As for own result well brilliant goal from Ben Arfa but that'll be his contribution done for the next 5 games unless we see consistent solid performances. Cabaye added nothing to the game apart from 2 needless fouls. Sissoko, Gouffran, Remy, cisse and Ben Arfa looked deadly at the close. Deserved win but Fulham were a long way from being their best and didn't trouble us in the entire 90.

I am going to make a prediction for Sundays Arsenal v Spurs game.

It will be a great games and we will smash Arsenal with 6 goals Soldado and Defoe getting on the scoresheet and making Wengers life hell and he will be sorry that he let Van Persie go.

Final result 6 -0

Wow. I've seen delusional posts but that's ridiculous. So is Soldado actually gonna score from open play or what?

If that's the case you will have spent more on match tickets than the club has on transfers come the end of the window

I'm not sure why Wenger hasnt gone for Cesar. Same with Sakho. Liverpool have a real good buy in that powerhouse.

Really starting to shine now is young Mr Sturridge, he was really impressive today. I doubt that Mourinho would have been so willing to part with him.

BTW did Spurs get that 0-6 win in the end?

thenry 01-09-2013 18:41

Re: Football Season 2013/14 & Summer Window

Wenger just said in his post match press conference he's ready to spend, he's even ready to pay over the market value as long as its not crazy but he's after super quality. he refereed to a domino game which doesnt take a rocket scientist to work out Bale to RM, Ozil/Di Maria outbound. Utd are interested in Ozil so this may still be painful for Arsenal.

Moyes on SkySports, he wont be disappointed if Utd don't sign anyone. puts faith in players. i reckon thats him not letting the players heads drop. still a danger for me chasing Ozil.
