so you should be able to replace whichever box you wish. I wanted to move my existing V+HD to another room and was first told it'd be £10pm more on top of the normal £6.50pm (for box number 2).... as my existing box is a V+HD (rather than standard).... I called his bluff and said I'd swap my existing V+HD for a VHD then (for the second room)... to which he entered it on the system and saw that there was no price difference after all. |

well IMHO that just shows what a shambles it is really ... i mean calling the same person 3 times on the same day or 3 times over 3 days is just crackpot organisation ... if they were missed calls it would be fine but 3 calls to the same person even after they had already signed up on the first call
and they wonder why customers get wound-up and give grief on forums :dunce: |

Probably a bit late now for any more calls today. I keep telling myself not to think about it too much and that I didn't have a Tivo a year ago and haven't lost anything and I don't have Tivo now so haven't lost anything.
Ok, who am I kidding? It isn't working! |

I missed a call this afternoon but was called back after 6pm. I must admit I was in a foul mood after missing the initial call and felt sorry for my poor hubby having to put up with my long face.
Install is on February 23rd AM :-) Digital Fanatic it's ALMOST here.....then I can resume my love affair with TiVo again lol |

Re: TiVo
I would love to get Tivo fed up with my very slow SA box
that keeps on freezing & have the money waiting to give virgin, Im on XL TV, XXL Broard, L Phone, I give virgin nearly £100 a month but still no phone call, And I registered my interest on the Tivo website the day it went live if I dont get a call soon then maybe back to Sky as I can't live with my SA box any longer, :( Please call Tivo team............ |
Re: TiVo
Get the SA box swapped out as it will cost you nothing while you wait for Tivo (I am as well).
I have a SA V+ box and it works fine and performs well. Just recently though they have been doing some work on VOD and I have noticed the occasional day when it has been slow on the EPG, but apart from that it works well. Anyway, you can't be serious surely! Giving up the chance of the "great Tivo" to move to Sky! |

Re: TiVo
Or arrange an engineer visit then, I found out my signal frequencies were wrong once and wasn't even aware of it, caused by a previous patch update which did cause this on some SA boxes. From memory, the frequencies were aligned with Birmingham and were slightly different to Nottingham where I am.

Re: TiVo
Its getting very dificult to understand VM's stratedgy on the tivo rollout now ... assuming all those posting are real honest people ..
s1 tivo owners got deal of £149 ... lucky lotto 1000 got free remote and free box/install lifetime tivo sub ... then some xl tv (non VIP) & VIP were offered the £149 and now appears some who didnt get the remote on the 1 in 1000 and are not VIP are being offered a free box ( they didnt detail if lifetime sub as well ) and then again there are long serving (10 years plus customers) and shorter VIP customers (like myself on VIP for about 4 years) who havent had any contact at all ..... and that doesnt include the fact some people are getting the tivo/sales contacting them on multiple times even if they had already placed the order and booked a date..... this is why some people get frustrated with VM and their lack of communication and their apparent lack of organisation All IMHO and i repeat im not even gonna have tivo if i have to pay for it so im not jealous of those getting chosen at this stage just pointing out the facts as i have understood them :p: |
Re: TiVo
The funny thing is Ive been with virgin for many years
way back when they where cable london then telewest and whenever I have registered a interest in a new product I have never had a call back ! I have given up swapping out my SA boxes I had 4 in 6 months! Can anyone comment on the picture quilty with the Tivo box & is the box noisy & do you think it's worth the money? Thanks.. |

They have only been calling customers for a about a week and a half as well. Also it clearly states in the letter that got sent with the remotes to the 1000 that they are getting the boxes early as part of a pre launch special offer. So until it fully launches I think people need to calm down a bit and stop moaning at Virgin. |
Re: TiVo
Just thought you may be interested in my experiences of the HD Virgin TiVo, which I had installed last Saturday on my blog. It has some videos of usage of the TiVo including performance of the box in the menus, YouTube features, search by actor features and other cool stuff :)

Re: TiVo
I am quite calm thank you very much , and i did not moan i just posted the facts as i have understood them so far and would appreciate if you didnt take that tone with a customer who has the right to post his or her views whether they coincide with yours or VM's official line or not...
this line of yours of it not being officially released yet is wearing very thin and although no official statement has been made the product is clearly on a national rollout and therefore should be considered launched when over 1500 people have either the product or a booking for instalation as for whether customers who pay more deserve more ... i have never said there should be preferetial treatment for any group other than the longest loyal customers of which i am not one having been with VM for only about 5 years so stop quoteing my posts as if i were advocating anything more. the thread from the community section although useful did not explain the procedure VM were taking just gave a little info on what had happened (after the event and people had started to express opinions) so far and teased about what maybe happening in some future time .. I know these forums are not the whole picture and we only have a small snapshot of what is happening to a limited number of VM customers but as VM have failed to keep us upto date it happens to be our only source of info from which we have to draw our conclusions as i have not broken any forum rules then i am entitled to moan , groan , whinge and whine as much as i want as well as praise if i see fit ... OK i will zip it now and go back to lurking instead of contributing my opinions |
Re: TiVo
Save your breath Cozzy some people just don't get it.
People being phoned 3 times, sounds like the system is working flawlessly :o: |
Re: TiVo
Quote:
No need to lurk stick around and have some input. |
Re: TiVo
Its not classed as being officially relelased because VM have never stated it is. The fact that they put the words pre-launch on the 1000 letters tells me its not officially launched yet, and will not officially be so until anyone can actively call VM or walk in to a VM store and order one.
That and all the marketing and advertising that will begin when officially launched. Also having over 1500 cant be classed as on a national rollout as there are more than 3 million TV customers out there, so very few people have them. I am not taking any tone with any customer. I am posting in here as me not as a staff member. I am offering you my opinion of the situation. |
Re: TiVo
got a call from VM today but missed the call:mad: spoke to cs 'not helpfull at all said i would just have to wait for another call becouse whoever called didnt leave any notes on my file

I'm not sure on the £3 charge. Might be per household. |
Re: TiVo
Quote:
The only reason we know about the lucky pre-releasers is due to the social media we have available. Roll back 10 years and this sort of roll out would have gone almost entirely unnoticed until the provider wanted the public to know about it. And we certainly wouldn't see videos of it being used. We are essentially scrutinising inside information. It's not relelased yet, some people are lucky enough to get to play with it first, and that's VM's perrogative. And although VM don't want to say Beta, what the early birds are getting is at least like testing a gold release. And we know it's not the finished service that the general release will be, because 3 tuners is coming in March. Patience people. Our time will come. Boz |

Could you please check the press release http://pressoffice.virginmedia.com/p...859&highlight=. And tell me that it hasn't launched ? It clearly says it ha and roll-out starts mid December. Please stop saying it hasn't, it might be a gradual start to the roll-out to sort out teething trouble etc but it has been launched......... |
Re: TiVo
Quick question that I hope someone can answer. Install is booked for next week and I am keeping the V+ box and having the Tivo instead of one my V HD boxes. I only have the Sky HD sub on the V+ and want it going onto the TiVo, so do I wait for the install and then give VM a call or switch the cards and guess have them re-paired up? Thanks in advance.

Re: TiVo

A full product launch has not happened yet. Its still a soft launch or pre-launch at the moment. As I stated its not a full release until anyone can order it from a VM store or calling up to order it, and the marketing fully begins. |
Re: TiVo
Quote:
How can it have launched and not launched at the same time:confused: Are you saying Virgin have misrepresented the situation by tell the press it's launched when it hasn't ? They always said full availability for new customers would be April. They never gave info about schedule except those who registered would get it before. ITS LAUNCHED...... |
Re: TiVo
I don't think all installers have received training yet , I spoke to one near me and he knew about TIVO but had not been trained on it.
|
Re: TiVo

Back when the TiVo deal was first signed, VM told everyone it would be available late 2010. It's not "available" even now, but a quick press release to the contrary in December 2010 should cover their backs and keep the press and investors happy. |

PQ is very good. SD and HD both just as good as my old Samsung V+ HD (sorry didn't have a SA box to compare) It looks just superb in the menu. I posted on the blog earlier that VM got in touch with me earlier which has put my mind at rest a bit about the slowness I've experienced a bit. Tonight and last night though it's been blazing fast. |
