Well I'm off on a two week Med. cruise on Saturday, will have to watch the Champions League final on board.
Third port of call is Barcelona, might have to wear my Oldham Athletic shirt instead of my Man U one that day, it all depends on the result.:D |

HT in the champions league final. I'm really enjoy this game. So often these big games don't live up to their billing but some great stuff here.
45 minutes went past in the blink of an eye. As a neutral I'm already hoping for extra time.:) |

Re: Football Season 2010/2011
I agree with the applause for Barcelona but please do stop making it look like they were 'Gods'
They were brilliant but Manchester United contributed to Barca's display by leaving a few players at home. Notably, Valencia (Non existent throughout), Hernandez had an absolute shocker and spent the opening 45 minutes offside and the other 45 doing nothing. Ryan Giggs was also non existent for the entirety. I'm a Toon fan and obviously I'm a bit disappointed because like any true English football fan you root for the English side! Messi is a fantastic player and all credit too him but the defending tonight made him look twice the player he is! First 10 minutes they marked him properly and chased him down every time! He barely touched the ball in this period because of the excellent marking.. The other 80 minutes however were a whole lot different and he was allowed to run anywhere he pleased. You simply cannot afford to just let him run at you for 40 yards whilst backing off. My list of top performers in that match. Lionel Messi Wayne Rooney Park Ji Sung Carrick Pedro Dani Alves |

Re: Football Season 2010/2011
regardless of whether or not Man U turned up tonight, the team that was there got a lesson in football. how many times did you see Barca hoof the ball up the field, or hit-and-hope? I think I saw Abidal clear it 2 maybe 3 times towards the end of the game by putting his boot through it. Man U seemed to try the long, 50/50 ball almost every time they had possession. in fact, I think Barca only tried putting the ball in once from the many corners they had - that's how in control they are. they play fast, close passes. if they didn't think 100% that it will get to a team mate, they didn't play that ball. they were calm, never rushed and were back defending in numbers very fast. nani was surrounded by at least 2 players any time he had the ball, and that was at the end of 90 minutes. if they could get 3 players around a man u shirt with the ball, they did it. Man U were totally in the shadow of Barca. Gods? maybe not. Messengers? probably.

Everyone is making Barca as a cream team, they were only good last night, as Man Utd were totally crap, Giggs was totally crap, and should not have played in view of recent events, the goal Messi scored, l have seen better in the PL.
---------- Post added at 11:52 ---------- Previous post was at 11:45 ---------- I have heard stong rumours that Harry Rednappe will become the next Chelsea manager, l have a sore stomach through laughing so much. Harry might be a brilliant coach and manager, but Abramowich wants sucess EVERY season, Harry can't supply that, if Ab'ch had his way he would buy the damn cups and titles. Just think Angelotti was sacked for team failure - and they came second and got back into the champions League. Remember - money can't buy everything. |

Re: Football Season 2010/2011
Barcelona were brilliant. Man United are the best English team this year and they simply could not cope.
I didn't think Ferguson would get 'done' by the same team twice. I thought United would give a robust, clinical, physical, and tactual game and thus manage to beat Barcelona. However it was evident that they were powerless against such a team. |
Re: Football Season 2010/2011
I still beg to differ with the ''No one can beat barca'' comments though.
Real Madrid are more than capable on a good day. Manchester City would give them a run for their money. MCFC European Champions 2012 :D |

They are the best team in Europe - that would have remained true regardless of the result yesterday - and they can probably be called the best club side ever now. It really is a remarkable era and a remarkable team that we get to watch. Real Madrid could beat them, Manchester City could beat them, almost any team in Europe could beat them if they have a good day, however it depends on them also having a bad day. United had a good day yesterday but then so did Barca and no one can stop Barcelona when they have a good day. |

A question for "The Daddy"
What is your opinion on West Ham's appointment of Sam Allardyce as manager? Also, do you think that Sam's reputation of route one football will be a bit of a culture shock for the die hard West Ham fans who are used to the passing game? and.... Will you and other West Ham fans accept him for one, two or maybe three seasons if he manages to get you promoted back into the Premiership where you really belong. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/foo...-Ham-boss.html |
