Well the end result is that after contacting the police I've asked them to pay the guy a visit and warn him off, making him aware that any future calls would result in me seeking legal action.

Post doing this, I've activated NTL's anonymous call barring, which is preventing him calling from his home phone :) (well no calls since Tuesday).

I must say tho, credit where credit is due...the NTL CS guy, I think his name was Carl, he was excellent. He dealt with my sensitive call very well and wished me all the best with this, so thanks to Carl :tu: :)

I've also decided to change my number, this is for many reasons including piece of mind of knowing for a fact we'll never be disturbed by him again. If you heard the calls you'd know for a fact you would'nt want to hear anymore...


Anyway, I hope this is the end of it.

Slightly, Off Topic, but when I got my NTL phone line, I was getting loads of silent calls, typically in the middle of the night. I phoned NTL, and they told me to keep a record, and if I had more than a certain amount of 'hits' in a month, they would investigate. It never got to that, as the silent calls subsided. The reason for the silent calls did become apparent a while later, when someone called and asked me if I was the massage place off junction X.

I guess NTL gave me a 'hot' phone number :erm:

1 Ring ntl and alert them to contact the malicious calls beauro and they will inviestigate

2 Ask for anon call block - To stop the person withholding the number from you - They will get a message in their ear that you are not talking witheld numbers and they are to redail - press *227# to enter from your phone - it is #227# to remove the feature

3 If that fails contact the police who will give you a crime number - this will and can req ntl to change your number

It is possible that the number allocated to you was an old number from a massage parlour - Numbers are stored for 18 months and then reallocated - This is so that the numbers can outlive the life of a phone book - Then they are allocated at point of sale by telesales - but tsales will not know at that stage what number you are being allcated - I used to get Going Places as my number was one digit away from them and when people asked if they were through to going places I used to say you are going no where - esp when it got to the stage of being anoying - The company would not change their number and so I had to

I have had messages from old dears left on my machine thinking they've got through to the local doctors surgery and have got the number wrong asking me for their usual prescription. :D
