lol.... it would only serve as a data read/writer... i.e. the compact flash, so theres no point in spending that amount of money to get a pcmcia port that can only read data cards..........

Sorry should of explained myself a bit better when i said it wouldnt suit him... :)

Im surprised there isnt any around tho... i mean you can get a pci card that has a pcmcia slot on..... so why not a fully functional usb version???? maybe due to demand or something :S

It is wierd.....plenty of cards to add usb's but not the other way around :confused:

Trouble is that the pcmcia slot is a 32bit slot (usualy) and is connected directly to the bus. Your going to have a hard time matching the speed against usb - even usb2 or firewire wont hack it, The pcmcia is a paralel bus connection and the usb is serial - no contest

Tell him to get a USB wireless adaptor to free is pcmcia slot up :P
