Re: Benfits of a Mac

I was considering it....

Can someone confirm that a mac will join a windows 2000 domain. I know it uses tcp/ip but does it support ntlmv2 and ipsec ?

Haven't tried it myself, but some of the information here may be of use to you.

The latest version of OSX (Panther) will join a 2000 domain. There are a few things to tweak but works fine.

Re: Benfits of a Mac

I've got both a PC and a MAC on the desk at work (a Uni), and the PC was last switched on about 2 months ago. The Mac is connected to the Uni network, which is a Win2k domain. I'm accessing my mail on the Exchange 5.5 server using the OS 10.2 email client, and when they finally upgrade to Exchange 2003, I will be able to use iCal as the scheduling client. I can access all of the network shared drives on the Win2k domain, and also all of the printers. I've got Microsoft Office X, which is totally compatable with all of the PC created docs.

Looking under the hood, the OS 10 graphics engine is a totally 3d based system, and power wise, it blows any MS driven PC out of the water. What PC could run a complex screensaver as wallpaper on a relatively low spec machine?

Take a look on the OS X tab on the Apple website for more info about some of the software available.

Andy
