Just bought my replacement on eBay for £3.20, saving having to send back the old one, and hanging on the phone with customer service.

I never knew NTL even had a shop!!
Hmm, overall they don't even seem too badly priced!! Do they just add the charge onto your bill? ;)

A while ago, a friend of mine asked me if I could fix his TV remote for him... I asked him what was wrong with it, and he replied "I hit it with a baseball bat" The thing was in two pieces lol.

Have you seen their delivery charges? The cheapest is the next day delivery at £6.50.

Re: Remote control problem

I know that sometimes it's not actually the remote that stops working but the IR (IRDA) receiver on the box. You can check to see if the original is working by placing it in front of a digital camera (even the one on your mobile phone) and pressing the buttons... if you do not see any white lights through the screen of your camera it means that the remote is broken (to make sure please replace batteries) however if it does give you the white lights it means that the IR receiver of the box is broken, I guess they will replace the box free of charge... I have to mention that I have not got much info about exchanging these things as I live in Holland, however I believe that for each and every single device there is a two year garantee period....you might want to remind the manufacturer

good luck!

Ps if it turns out to be the remote and they will not send you a new unit unless you pay 15. you might want to start looking at a universal remote..
