There is no mention of any cap on ukonline's website for their current packages, but I am reluctant to switch to NTL 10Mb + Sky free if I later found I was over-using NTL

At 300GB a month, I'm sure your BB neighbours are bloody glad you're reluctant. So what DVDs have you got for sale this week?

People who download DVDs don't necessarily sell them on you know.

Goodness me Neil, where's your sense of sarcasm gone? If anyone is loading 300GB a month on a residential BB connection, something dodgy is going on.

I download dvds and dont sell them, but I dont do 300gig a month nearer 50 :)

Their is no evidence yet of sky been shaped their is just a FUP on the top tier and caps on the 2 lower tiers.

I never said there wasn't something dodgy going on, I was merely saying that just because someone downloads DVDs they don't necessarily sell them on (I.E. they may simply download them to watch the film).

It's running at SOME exchanges, not many of them to be honest. As usual it will be a case of wait and see for a lot of people as they will have to wait for their local exchange to be equipped.

I am pretty sure I read somewhere on here that Sky is traffic shaped as well.

If you cannot get llu from ukonline then its heavily traffic shaped because they use BT for the backbone.

It's not available in Glasgow for a 'few months' (coming soon then I guess) but that hasn't stopped Sky sending me an email offering me the BT option EVERY DAY FOR THE LAST WEEK.

Now one or maybe two I could cope with but every one I get is making it less likely I'll actually take the service when it does become available.

Spike

I get emails every other day asking me to take broadband. Every other day they tell me i can have the 16 meg product, Then when i phone them they tell me i cannot have it and i will have to have the 2 meg product from BT. And to top it of they then phone me a few days later to ask me if i want it ?.

I am in and out of BT exchanges here in the North West on a daily bases and meet the UKonline and Easynet engineers. They are telling me that my area will not be ready till after the new year. So who do i believe The engineers who upgrade the dslam,s or the Sky salesman who are just after a quick sale ?

Hi Bill,
Personally I would NEVER believe anything a NTL/Sky salesman told me.They promise the earth & deliver the moon.Where I work we get calls every day to us from people who want the free one (" I gather I can get free internet as I've already got Sky TV") & when you tell them they can only get the £17 OFF-NET Connect they go off on one!
You,me & a few others know the score but the majority of people just see the word 'Free' without reading the small print!
