Did you do as Zingle said to reset the cmos?
Pull the power from the wall
Remove the battery
Set the cmos reset jumper to pins 2 and 3
Wait a few minutes
Set the jumper back to pins 1 and 2
Put the battery back in
Plug in a fire it up.

http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/ima...lies/frown.gif anyone have any ideas? im all upset http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/ima...lies/smile.gif

i have an inter conroe 2.4 with stock fan + heatsink.

a gigabyte ds4 mobo

enermax 500w liberty psu

2gb geil ddr2.

and a radeon x1800 xt

no hard drive or cd rom plugged in yet.

i have every power connector i can see plugged in. (is that a bad idea?)
i have 2 atx12vx2 plugs so they are both in.
i also added the extra addon for the atx connector so thats all plugged in.

any ideas? is it something to do with atx 12v?

i have tried it with and without the gfx card and same results.

i assume its not a memory issue as the fan would still continue to spin (i hope) if it was a memory error.

the psu fan happily spins around and so does the case fan.
could it be the heatsink isnt on properly? i did give it a good push until it went clunk .

The thing that I find strange is that you have no hard drive or CD rom connected ?

Ever thought the board might have some sort of Cool n quiet software built into the mobo, which means the fan only spins for a few seconds to start with to verify its working, and only powers up again once the cpu gets warm (which can take anywhere from 30 seconds to a few minutes)?

Re: my new build issue :)

that is a good point but i dont want to leave my very expensive cpu sitting there and possibly getting destoryed to test :)

new ram is dispatched so will be with me thursday lets see how that goes. lucky im not alone in all my issues.

and yeah i always build new pc's with just the min in. helps track down what the problem is.
