For example [in Ntl's News of the World advert yesterday they were], comparing Sky's standard every day rates with NTL's limited time only special offer rates.. For example, including all the "optional" charges in the Sky comparison but not in the NTL one... For example, leaving the phone line cost out of the NTL comparison... For example, trying to represent that the Digital TV "Starter" pack [six pay channels] is the same as even the cheapest Sky pack [at least 40 pay channels]...

A fairer comparison would be:

Sky 2 Mix + Free Broadband + BT Line = £26/month
NTL 'Leisure Combo' + Phone Line = £40.49/month

Actually you do not need any phone line if your with sky and if your a new customer everything is free, even installation!

You just pay a £25 charge for not having your digi box connected to a phone line!
(This is a one off fee!)

The day's of having to have a phone line in order to get sky are long gone!
(Unless you want multiroom at a discounted price)

Ah sorry you're right they should have quoted the up to 16Mb with no cap or activation fee instead, costing a tenner but still with the bundles being cheaper than ntl with 2Mb uncapped internet.

Another anti-Sky person who thinks it's cool to type $ instead of an S *sigh* you should thank Sky they're the main motivation behind the upcoming pricing and package changes for ntl's internet services.

I'm against the programme supplier and carrier being one and the same ... and many, many people will use $ as I have for many other reasons too.

btw the majority will never get anywhere near 16 mb (unless they live in the exchange!)

*Yawn* you believe that as well obviously. I could go through giving out the facts again regarding ADSL range, etc, etc, but they're wasted on the people with tongues in ntl's backside.

Presumably you won't be watching any UKTV channels if you don't like supplier being carrier seeing as ntl own Flextech.

Actually I'll amend my signature... Done.

I only used the quote to show that Ntl do compare apples and oranges just like lots of other companys. The examples weren't mine ;)

2km from an exchange is only just over a mile, I live in a medium sized town and am aprox 3 miles from exchange as the crow flies, no idea what line length that equates to, but expect that it is over 4500metres, ADSL less than 4MB. Using same cable, was lucky to get 33K on dial up with BT.

Many, many people live too far from BT exchanges to get decent ADSL, 2km is only just down the road from exchange,

Yes I got these figures from the link which you gave, so I have "checked the facts".............

I don't claim that cable is the BEST, but it is better for a lot where ADSL is a joke.

I live not that far away from my local exchange about 1.5miles max and was only able to get 1MB but now I can get 4MB max!

That is kinda crap when you think about it!

I can wave to my bt exchange by looking out my bedroom window yet I have only ever been able to get half the speeds.

Can't beleive how much tv packages cost these days. Just get a Freeview box instead and/or a free satellite set up.

Alternatively why not ask for NTL's free basic tv offer? - suprised there hasn't been any discussion of it here.

Well if it's personal abuse you have to resort to I can see your head is up your own backside.

Some people in these forums really do suck.

I'll not be back.

In my opinion, Mr Henry challenges & contradicts, but never 'abuses', should you have a problem with a post, please use the report feature, rather than accusing the poster of an anatomical impossibility ;)
