My 14y son wants an Xbox 360 with all the trimmings (including an extra controller). Can anyone advise on a good place to buy? I'd like some sort of guarantee, too.

The price of the Xbox 360 seems to be static at the moment. I got mine from Comet Online but if i was to buy it again i'd get it from a shop where i could walk in and buy it, incase it ever developed a fault as this would make getting it replaced for a new unit alot easier.

THIS might come in handy. Just make sure you buy the PREMIUM pack and not the CORE as there's a big difference.

Also a standard quick charge battery charger and 4 fast rechargable cells will come in handy as i wouldn't bother with the 'charge and play kit' as this requires a wire to the xbox which kind of makes the wireless controllers pointless then.

He might also need a 12month gold Xbox live subscription. Also an Xbox Live Starter Kit with game is the same as an XBL Gold subscription and will work. :)

Thanks for the advice, SnoopZ. I thought your link was great, but my son wasn't too impressed - especially when he saw John Lewis at the top of the list.

He's subsequently made a purchase through E-bay. Something to do with teenage street-cred, I suppose.

The ebay-purchased 360 died last week. My son is organising a UPS courier to get the box to Portsmouth.

Hopefully they'll sort things out with a minimum of fuss.
