Yes PS2 might still be out sellling 360 but its only £99, 360 is £280. So lets see when the PS3 arrives costing a lot more than the price of a 360 and the fact that the 360 will already have been onsale for a year, who the winner will be.

You mean the PS3 graphics and not the actual games as many of them are just sequals to games that have been around since the PS1.

Copied features ? ? ? sequals ? ? ? No diffrent features ? ? ? Do you just completely discount blueray ? The possiblilty of much larger games and many more features whn you have 50gig to work with. You havent really looked into the PS3 I assume by that response or your probably an xbox fan who has no room for compremise. I said the xbox360 is good I dont deny it I was only stating that my money's on sony. Anyway I aint really up for a big bebate over it so thats all I will have to say I wont reply to anymore comments.

In answer to some of the questions,

6 Xbox 360 still overpriced, maybee when i am ready they will be more reasonable.

Thanks for your help.

No 360s arn't overpriced, they are taking a loss on each one, its like everything, as you sell more production costs become cheaper and adventually they will work their way down to £100.

PS3s won't be overpriced either, it's going to cost a helluva lot to make one, it will take a very long time for them to reach £100!

I'm nowhere near being a serious gamer. I couldn't be ars*d getting my PCs to run games most effectively.

Using a console - slap the disc in and off you go... None of this having to get more memory, better graphics card, more HD space, DirectX x.x etc.

I had a PS, so got a PS2 when it came out (for backwards compatibility) and now have a second PS2 - both units are on my home WLAN for multiplayer/LAN play.

I'd go for Sony - maybe wait a few months and get the PS3...

I am not a fanboy, I have owned every console in the last 15yrs, and play a lot of games. I do feel that sony though is trying too hard to get the best console but then fails to deliver. Take the PS2 and the emotion engine, that never lived up to its name.

Finally as for not looking at the PS3 I have followed every console from their announcements and know most of the technical details and the PS3 isn't actually that much better than the 360. I have read articles from programmers detailing the pros and cons for each machine.

As for Blueray I will be backing HD-DVD as most of the formats Sony has come up with have failed. eg Betamax, minidisc and UMD.

Considering DVD was meant to enable larger games it took a while for that to actaully happen and even now there are games that fail to fill the full DVD.

I would hardly call UMD a failed format...

I'm with Darth Yoda on this one - Sony are placing too much emphasis on Blueray, and I'm not convinced it's enough to justify the significantly higher price.

Admitedly, the price of a new standalone Blueray drive today would set you back the best part of the price of a PS3, if not more. So, if you're an early adopter then maybe it would make sense. However, the AV snobs I work with whom I've spoken to have all said that they'd rather stick pins in their eyes than watch a film played through a console. Personally, I can't see the difference between watching films through a PS2 or an XBox and watching it on a standalone DVD player, but they assure me it's just cause I don't know what to look for.

I was going to say that maybe the Cell would make the PS3 worthy of its price tag, but then I remembered this article, so I think I'll keep quiet. ;)

In the early days of the X-box I thought one of it's selling points would be it's ability to double up as a DVD player. That's a few years ago now, when DVD players were only just becoming popular. Very quickly did I realise it wasn't that suitable. Not due to playback quality, more through background noise (altough at least one DVD i bought didn't play properly). Didn't take me long to get a dedicated DVD player.

I'd expect the same would happen over blueray, if it is a format that becomes popular the dedicated players will soon come along at a cost effective price that will superceed the PS3 option, except maybe for the kids bedroom.
