Anyway, what I suggested yesterday was a way of cancelling for you, but an option given is that a suspension during the summer months can be arranged if you want. If you want me to put the disconnection request in for you though my offer is still there.

Ha, we've barely managed, it's been really slow at times, but we've had no other option, we couldn't afford to go on a higher speed, because 3 of the housemates only use the internet for web browsing and msn, but 3 of us are 'downloaders'. All I knew that was quite a while ago I was given the option of upgrading from 512 to 2mb, but with a monthly cap, can't remember exactly what it was....but it was nowhere near enough to share between 6 of us, especially as I leave my computer to download overnight etc. Then around March time, I got a letter saying that my connection was to be upgraded to a no-cap 1mb service by the end of april, which I was happy about, but it never did happen.... So we've been stuck at sometimes only downloading at 4k/s, lol....ridiculous, it's like dial-up sometimes. Tops we get 40k/s, not often though. A suspension during summer months would be good if I wasn't graduating uni as well as moving out the house, but the fact is I have no need of NTL's services after the end of June, so I need a full cancellation. (I don't suppose my line speed will be upgraded before then, ha, because I'm currently tearing my hair out at the new Lost series 2 episode downloading at 4.5k/s, lol) I plan to call up to set about requesting a cancellation for the end of June, so given that they ask for 30 days notice I'll be getting in touch with them soon. Could you assist me in getting the service cancelled? My plan so far is to call in a few days time, 0800 052 9403, which i understand takes me to who I need to speak to. Note the name of the person, and the date and time of call. Ask for my service to be cancelled at the end of June, because "I am graduating university and moving out of the house, and going back home to live with my parents who are happy with their current internet connection", and give them a forwarding address. Then I will send a letter recorded delivery including written confirmation of my cancellation request, the name of the customer services representative I spoke to, and the date and time of the call, reason for cancellation, and my forwarding address. Then after the payment for the month of June has been taken out, at the beginning of July I will cancel my direct debit.

Retentions won't touch you with a bargepole mate for the simple reason being that its dealth with as a disconnection due to house move (nothing to do with retentions but instead dealt with by CS) - if you ring retentions you'll end up being thrown through to customer services, if you ring M+T they'll hand you over to CS as well as they're mainly a back office team. If you want me to put the cancellation through for you I can do, but be advised that the account will disconnect either after 30 days or at the end of your 9 month contract, whichever is the latter.
