Re: Recommend Routers!
Why do you need an ethernet lead? It's a usb adaptor for wireless, it connects via USB which is supplied. The router connects to your BB feed which I hope is coming out of your SACM or STB via ethernet. How does the BB feed connect to your PC now?

Re: Recommend Routers!
Does your PC have an ethernet socket on it? Did the NTL Engineer connect it by USB even though it does?

Re: Recommend Routers!
That looks to be an ADSL router which will not work with NTL I'm afraid. Can you start a new thread of your own so we can help you without confusing this thread too badly?
Actually can we keep this question to the other thread you created so it's easier for people to follow ;) Have answered you there too. |
Re: Recommend Routers!
The guy installed it with USB and never left a Ethernet lead :(

http://www.sweex.co.uk/product.asp?pid=221 The Basic setup for the Sweex (I have the non-wireless model), for NTL, is to select Cable/Dynamic IP mode, and specify a timeserver http://homepage.ntlworld.com/robin.d.../timesync.html Use your UBR address, or 194.168.4.76 is the address of the main one - don't use that if you turn the router off at night, as it's unfair to hit it every day. The Router takes the 80.x address, behind a router, you will always have a private IP address - incoming connection have to be port forwarded, for some P2P or conferencing programs to work - many routers have some form of application gatewaty setup you can automate this with. |
