explains a bit more, but if you get to that provisioning screen you should enter the details requested, then once the MAC is registered you should pick up an IP.

- you don't get this palaver with a stand alone modem, thank goodness ;)

Nope, think that's the provisioning screen where you register the equipment against your account ;) Once it's registered you should be off and running, if not there is always the cloning route lol.

Its still not working, I can't apply the settings in the router setup screen. I keep getting a network icon (with a small red cross) in the windows task bar and a message that says a network cable is unplugged!

possibly a silly question, forgive me in advance ;) - but, the connection between the router & the STB may have to be X-over, while the connection between router & PC should be 'straight through'. The RJ45 socket on the STB will be marked if it requires a X-over cable - how is yours set up?

Its not a crossover, it's a straight fwd ethernet connection.
