uh huh... exactly as i thought... i remember a sorting out a few of these when i was in tech support. Some of this might not mean anything to you, but this is to give you an idea of the process that will occur:

1) the mac address needs to be nuked which will knock you back to an unregistered state (you will get an ip ending 248-253)
2) you will need a new pin number generating (not sure if tech support are allowed to do this)
3) You will then need to visit https://autoreg.autoregsiter.net/ and complete registration as if you are a new customer
4) Tech support can then replace the email/ webspace that was created by the "new" registration with your existing details
5) you're then up and running again....

That used to be the process, although i'm not sure whether it has changed since the summer. There is another way of sorting this out as well, but there are even fewer people in ntl that know how to do that than the above process so i don't think i'll bother explaining!

BTW what area are you in? Is it one of the following: Wales and West, Glasgow, Kirklees, Luton franchise areas?

Well after another conversation with tech help I think I've finally got a breakthrough. :cleader:

2nd 512K took 2183 ms = 234.5 KB/sec, approx 1932 Kbps, 1.89 Mbps
3rd 512K took 2153 ms = 237.8 KB/sec, approx 1959 Kbps, 1.91 Mbps
4th 512K took 2554 ms = 200.5 KB/sec, approx 1652 Kbps, 1.61 Mbps

Overall Average Speed = approx 1871 Kbps, 1.83 Mbps

Current Connection Speed

You are currently subscribed to the ntl: 2 Mbps Broadband Internet Service.

Just checked and got these results:

2nd 512K took 2123 ms = 241.2 KB/sec, approx 1987 Kbps, 1.94 Mbps
3rd 512K took 2183 ms = 234.5 KB/sec, approx 1932 Kbps, 1.89 Mbps
4th 512K took 2213 ms = 231.4 KB/sec, approx 1907 Kbps, 1.86 Mbps

Overall Average Speed = approx 1834 Kbps, 1.79 Mbps

I emailed NTL last night (no reply yet) after posting on here and gave them links to this and other threads that I found to prove that it wasn't just me or my PC.

The modem that I have is from NTL when I signed up which I thought I rented but it seems that it belongs to me now. (how nice!)
