Re: Network Printer
I'm still confused.
How do I know what port to use!? |
Re: Network Printer
Use the one you created by following my post before that one..
Actually, if you look at the site I linked, you may find some software to help. |
Re: Network Printer
If you're talking about when you said to right click on printer and add port, I can't see a printer in the list!
|
Re: Network Printer
I am assuming you are going through the "Add Printer" wizard. It asks which port you want to use FIRST, before you specify a printer.

Re: Network Printer
But what port do I want to use!?

Re: Network Printer
See my post 14.. Have edited it to make it clearer.

Re: Network Printer
How do I find out my printers IP adress?
|
Re: Network Printer
You need to look that up on the router's admin page.

Re: Network Printer
Sorry but I have no idea what the hell you mean.

Re: Network Printer
Ok, I've done all the steps, but now what!?
|
Re: Network Printer
Well?

Re: Network Printer
If the printer is already installed, you can just right on it, select "Properties" and then "ports". Tick the port you created as a result of my Previous post.
If it isn't, just complete the "Add Printers" wizard you started to create the new port. Failing that, is it an HP all-in-one? Try running the setup program that comes with that. I know that the software that come with the HP Business printers is good at finding the printer on the network, and it configures all the ports and printers automatically. Also, did you look at the Safecom site? They may have software on there to help. |

the idea was to network a new HP7450 Photosmart printer. However the supplied software didn't appear to work?? - 'wreset.exe' also seemed to knock out my default printer, as well? Following Stu's advice has, at least got both of my printers working - the challenge now is to see if Mr Gaz can use the new one, too, as well as her default printer :) At least I can now print on both printers, myself, thanks Stu :tu: |
