Re: Why is this happening with my PC

I am running Windows Xp home edition, and the motherboard is on a intel celeron pentium 4, graphics are ati, sound is soundblaster, the harddrive is samsung other than that there is not a lot else icould tell as i haven't really took much notice of anything else.

This is all the info I could get from CJU. Not a lot to go on, make etc of motherboard would help narrow search for info?

Re: Why is this happening with my PC

I'd get a new mobo tbh.

You've reformatted.
You've changed HDs.
Your PC is locked down security wise.

Can't see what else it could be.

Re: Why is this happening with my PC

Looking at various websites, it seems not a lot of good words are being said about the make of motherboard you have, it also says that cybermaxx is bankrupt, not a good starting point.
How long have you had this system?
If it were mine, I honestly would be looking at a new, cheap motherboard, that I could salvage parts from, and place into the new mobo.

Re: Why is this happening with my PC

I do know each time this has happened that i have got a security warning about Win32 but i also know this is a part of the windows program so can't see what influence that would have!!!

Its true what my it tutor used to say "Computer on blink, someonefetch mea big hammer" lol

Re: Why is this happening with my PC

I strongly suspect its some kind of malware, when you put everything back on did you do everything all at once ? Might be an idea to start all over again, and when installing programs, drivers, etc etc to do them one by one. See how things are going, and if all's well, move on to the next one. You may well discover which one is causing the problem.

Regards.

I can't recommend ASUS highly enough, i've used 2/3 of their boards now, never had a problem, and a few colleagues say the same.

Good Luck :tu:

Pay particular attention after you re-install mcafee, their software has caused problems for some users for a number of years.

Re: Why is this happening with my PC

MSI motherboards are my mobo's of choice, great software, loads of connectors, never let me down in the 12 years I've been system building, now on my 35th pc system (I sell on the old stuff, and recycle the cash back into next build).
As pedantic and nffc have said, looks very likely to be either a software problem, combined with a possible hardware fault, maybe caused by incorrect flashing of bios.
Depending on cash, and processor choice, I'd be tempted to start again with new mobo, then follow pedantic's good advise regarding software.
When I've rebuilt, and installed op system, still unconnected to net, windows not yet activated, I install all software one by one, untill I'm ready to go with final one, connecting the modem.
After that, it's on to NTL's home page, to download Netguard, it's free, and has never given me any grief.
Good luck, any further hassles, please report back, and we'll try and help.
