Re: Crazy download speeds - someone explain?
Right, the reason that the faster speeds appeared were pretty much that uBR had a bit of a flibble and your profile code was changed slightly to provide you an uncapped profile.
That's about it really, sorry dude but it's only temporary, and those thinking 'ooo yummy' and considering dodginess, it's so easy to spot it's not even funny :D |
Re: Crazy download speeds - someone explain?
now thats unfair I just wish that I had a 10meg connection for a bit (thats what you had KN4995, but then it dropped back down again to your normal 2meg...shame innit mate...
the isp giveth and the isp taketh away again :( |
Re: Crazy download speeds - someone explain?
Sorry, this thread is so badly hijacked I can barely tell who is talking to who about what.
If someone is trying to suggest I had a freak speed occurrence, i can provide screen grabs every 2 minutes for the next 24 hours? Of course, I couldn't - but 'theoretically' I could. Ignition mate, I hear what you're saying but this happens ALL the time. I back up regularly. Could I get an un capped profile as much as once every few minutes perhaps? and how? Here's a screen grab from just now. http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a42...s/th_ffdl2.jpg Cheers again. |

Was really hoping someone would be clued up enough here to explain. :: EDIT :: Incidentally, the same happens with IE as the browser. Just done this now: http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a42...s/th_ffdl3.jpg |
Re: Crazy download speeds - someone explain?
No possible ideas then, other than the UBR going mad even though this happens every single time I, or my mate download this backup file?
:juggle: |
Re: Crazy download speeds - someone explain?
KN4995 is it only when you download that kinda file or is it the same when you say download something from www.download.com that you get the 1.38MB/sec download speed?????
if so then you might've been bumped up to a lovely 10meg line :O if thats the case then I think that your a jammy git :P |

Re: Crazy download speeds - someone explain?
KN,
its not a file thats already on your system but getting renamed or anything like that?? as thats the only thing that I could think of at the moment... or if you pass me a pm with details where you got it from I could try myself as well |

No, the file isn't already on my system, though I see where you're coming from. Unfortunately, I can't give you access to the PHPBB or the server. The server belongs to Universal records. I'd get me ar$e kicked! (the offer is very much appreciated mate, thank you.) Along those lines though, as I have mentioned before, my fellow administrator (on NTL 2MB and Baguley) gets the same speeds, so it's not *just* me. |
Re: Crazy download speeds - someone explain?
any chance the size of the database file is being mis-reported?
otherwise I can hear Scotty saying 'you canna change the laws of physics, Cap'n' ;) |
Re: Crazy download speeds - someone explain?
sorry mate cant help you any further...I would say just ignore it and see if it continues as the file is probably all there anyway.

I'm just naturally very, very curious. Regardless of the fact that all is well, it really doesn't follow that I can just ignore an obvious phenomenon such as this! I am posting also on the PHPBB forum with the same screen grabs. Noone there has an answer either, sadly. |
