when ever i go to a cash point they are empty because there aren't enough of them left

The feature that still exists is for unusual transactions.

If I remember correctly it was an optional feature that needed enabling. It wasn't on out the box. I remember using my card in supermarkets and getting notifications to approve payment. I never had to for cash withdrawal or pin I think. I can't remember it may of just been for contactless.

I very rarely use a cash point, maybe once every 6 months and that is only taking £50 out, to me cash is virtually obsolete.

Not for me. I always pay cash in small establishments. I'm paranoid.

I can't really test my debit card for you because that would mean spending on it and as it's far better using my credit card I keep using that which does often give me online in app approvals when I buy something online but not when I use it in Tesco etc.
