Coincidently I have recently been listening to an article that claims that ties are a symbols of masculine authority/superiority because they are essentially an arrow pointing to the penis!

There are discussions about this on the internet too.

Maybe ties are falling out of fashion because, even subconsciously, the younger generation wish to distance themselves from this??

There are also discussions about the Earth being flat, and the moon being made of cheese, it doesnt actually make those things true ...

That's right, Ties are symbol of white supremacy as wearing one mocks slaves that had metal collars around their neck, even the name "tie", is in reflection to the slaves hands that were "tied" as they were transported. It's obvious when you think about it.

The dickie bow is a symbol of patriarchy, wearing one is just like a decorative bow you would put on a present, effectively a possession, meaning that you possess all that is around you including your wife.

Well that would take a long time to fully cover.

Earth was believed to be flat long before we knew it was a sphere. However in recent years and decades some have decided to ignore science and fact. I've seen some YouTube videos and Netflix documentaries. There are deeply invested and even have conventions where they meet and discuss their own takes on science.

But back to topic. I only wear a tie and suit at weddings and funerals.

About 15 years ago the call centre I worked in decided that we all needed to be smarter so rules were changed and trousers shirts and ties became mandatory. It did not go down well.

Surely they don't really believe it. I always treated it as a long-running joke.

100% serious. Its embarrassing. The videos I've seen, there reasoning for it being flat are insane.

I didn't wear a tie in my last job, even though it was a office job I was given the same uniform as the shop floor, and a tie didn't go with the polo shirt.

But I did wear a tie when I worked for TNT AMS, except on the very hot days, but I did if I went to outstation in Belgium, regardless of the temp (one time it was 35c)
